Inactive accounts

What is happening to the inactive accounts? Perhaps the quarantine is bringing people back... however I just had 5 "friends" who had been inactive for a week or longer suddenly vanish from my friend...

I don't remove inactives because I'd have to replace them, otherwise I'd have to deal with the annoying friend request screen (and the occasional accidental friend request i'd place).
