It's a gold eyeball salvage thread

I used to be like "lol whale problems" when people griped about these. I feel so foolish now.

They're one of the few pieces I will occasionally just buy fully crafted with crystals, since both halves are such a pain to farm.

You're welcome. And my value to this conversation is just a question: How comes that other players don't have these problems even if they upgrade a lot? Yes, i may upgrade other toons. But i don't buy it that you used literally thousands of those golden eyes on toons that are somewhat useful. To be more specific: I don't believe you ever had a lot of them which means you're either not playing that long or never participated in events where you can get those. The first one is a matter of time like for every other gear so work to it as everyone else did. The second one is your own fault.

You're not upgrading a lot...
300k in a few months? I have gone up 300k since last GAC, no whaling.

You're either lucky or purposely not upgrading all the very good toons that need them. I don't make complain threads, it is what it is, but I'm 4.5m and I have 110 of these things.

You need a total of 168 fully crafted eye pieces in the whole game by now.

This count is wrong, swgoh.gg is only counting gear levels that require them. Dooku, for example, needs two to go from 11 to 12, but is only listed once. Same for Clone Sergeant. I'm sure there are others.

It also doesn't count them if it's a sub-component - every Mk6 Stun Gun needs a fully crafted eyeball, but swgoh.gg doesn't include those in the "168" count either.

Yeah, have seen that for myself just some minutes ago.. However i'm still not convinced about the whole theme. So if someone is in need of gear s/he should just farm it like Stun Guns or Kyrotechs. I don't see the whole point of it.

They don't build up fast enough. That's the whole point.

That's 118 out of 168, the remaining 50 are on toons that are most likely never useful. So i'm done with eyes for my entire SWGoH career right now. So even if i had upgraded all the useful toons who need this gear my storage may be depleted but i wouldn't need much more of it if any. So what am i doing wrong that i'm not craving for that stuff?

And they're needed another 87 times as a component of Mk 6 A/KT Stun Guns. These are exclusively used when taking a character from G11 to G12, which you have done very little of.

Again, your play style has put you in this position. Many folks have characters like Ahsoka (180), B2 (60), Chewbacca (120), BB-8 (180), C-3PO (60), Echo (180), Carth (120), Canderous (120), Dooku (240), Droideka (180), Ezra (180), Han Solo (300), Magnaguard (60), Nute (120), and Padme (240) at G12. If you did just these it would take you 2,340 of your stockpiled 3,200.

We're not even talking about the characters that many folks in the 4.5M GP range have done for events like HAAT (Cody needs 300! and Leia takes another 180), or the Hoth TBs (R1 needs a bunch for G12).

I hope that helps you understand how a different play style than yours can easily lead to this gear being in high demand.

Empire is his only decent squad outside of meta. Has a G12 Gar and Super Commando.
Hasn't geared up GR.
Hasn't geared Rebels - 3 G12s, Hera, CLS, Biggs.
Bounty Hunters are "meh."

That is the whole point... They used to be much more readily available than Stun Guns or Kyrotechs. By way of HAAT rewards. And the protototype is already a bottleneck. Folks just want it to go back to the way it was.

I don't think this will happen, but that doesn't prevent me from understanding why these threads pop up from time to time.
