Jedi Consular Crew Power WAI?

I'm looking at the top guy on my ship arena shard (high level 70s to level 80) and there's a major gap between actual character power and the "crew power" shown in the ship view.

Which is fine, except Jedi Consular doesn't seem to have the same gap.

And no, it does not have to do with the upgrade multiplier stat on the ship.

Examples:
Biggs actual power 8133, crew power 5966 (upgrade multiplier 1.15x)
Fives actual power 8035, crew power 5180 (upgrade multiplier 1.1x)
Sun Fac actual power 7774, crew power 4881 (upgrade multiplier 1.15x)
Ahsoka actual power 5362, crew power 3701 (upgrade multiplier 1.1x)
Jedi Consular actual power 7254, crew power 7320?? (upgrade multiplier 1.05x)

So what gives? Everyone else seems to have some kind of crew power penalty applied (around 30%), except JC. So Biggs X-Wing is Level 70 4* with 13.2k total ship power, and JC's starfighter is Level 66 2* with 14.6k ship power.

Character wise, this dude's JC has 1k less power and a gear level less than his Biggs. If this trend continues, JC's ship is gonna be a monster compared to everyone else's.

Is this WAI? @CG_Kozispoon

  • Anyone cracked what is affected by the crew power? Also, what are those blue numbers in the ship stats? In characters they are mod bonuses, on ships, what are they?

Those are the stats that the crew adds, add you increase their power those stats increase
  • I just checked this guy's stat pages and it's pretty clear what's going on now.

JC's starfighter gains 3k physical damage and 10k (!) special damage from JC himself.
Biggs' X-Wing gains 5k physical damage and 0 special damage from Biggs.

So there seems to be a slight crew power bias toward INT/TAC based characters with high special damage, kind of like how character power numbers are biased toward tanky health/protection. At the end of the day, the damage scalings on individual skills determine how hard a ship hits; power numbers don't tell the full story.

    Case closed, WAI, thanks everyone.

Could be it. Many of the others don't add special damage

Yes must be it because AA has a special damage attack too
  • healer so higher power doesen't mean dmg as ability heals without shooting

He was partially correct it has to do with special damage being added to the ship from the character. My plo koon has higher tac than both AA and JC but his crew power was significantly lower. It is because his special damage is not used in his ship.
