It's dumb that the Vader - Anakin connection is a secret. If anything, Palpatine should have broadcast that fact everywhere, to show how even some Jedi realized how awful the Jedi Order was and defected to the Empire, and were welcomed and some even given positions of responsibility.
That likely would've been the plan had Anakin not been horribly injured at Mustafar. It'd be pretty difficult to hide the Vader-Anakin connection if a Lord Vader suddenly popped up after the Empire was formed and just happened to look and sound exactly like Anakin Skywalker"LordDirt;c-2363559" wrote:

So the show isnt over yet... but currently we have two plot holes.
1. Leah meets ben, knows hes a jedi whos friends with her dad... and then sends him a message on an r2 unit where she talks about he and her father worked together in the clone wars... never mentioned that time the guy also saved her life with floating powers and broke her out of the cell the nappers put her in.
2. Grand Inquistor is seemingly killed by 3rd sister... but Kannon kills him later in season 1 of Rebels.
Feels like an overreaction to be talking about plot holes already when there's still four more episodes to go.
Again i said "the show isnt over yet". That means they may deal with it. Heck, GI that just got stabbed may not be GI from rebels. Heads not the right shape anyway. Lol."FerociousPanda;c-2363321" wrote:
As for the Leia message, I wouldn't really call that a plot hole. Since she's going to ask Kenobi to come out of hiding to help the Rebellion fight it makes sense to reference the war he previously fought in. Stormtroopers were also actively looking for her so it's not like she had the time to record that long of a message
She records a whole message for him that ben plays for luke."Leia Organa" wrote:
General Kenobi. Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack, and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
Its not a quick message, she had time to say "Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars and you saved my life when i was a child. Now we need your help in the struggle against the Empire".
Its not like this "adventure" wouldnt be burned into her brain. He floated her down from a fall, hes a jedi... which are so rare they fall into legend and myth... and hes someone who's saved her life. She has a personal connection to him that is missed in her speech to R2.
If it’s only a problem with one line (though I concede it’s one of Star Wars’ most famous), then I don’t think it should affect interesting storytelling. I know that not all Star Wats fans feel this way, but I’m willing to ignore a few inconsistencies for the sake of good storytelling/fun moments.
Thats the thing. I loved the show... as some one above said, it was great tv.
Keep in mind this show is potentially addressing a plot hole in return of the jedi though.
Vader to Luke on endor when cofronted with still having good in him, "Obi Wan once thought as you do".
But when?
Obi wan didnt seemed to concerned with redeeming him in revenge of the sith after the fight. Before the fight, he didnt seem to concerned with turning him from his path.
After he leaves him in a burnt heap, he next runs into him on the death star.
He doesnt seem to concerned with turning him back to the light there either.... so when did obi wan feel like luke did about vader?
This show is building up to it by dhowing obi wan regretting his failure to anakin and killing his 'brother' whom he loved. Now he knows vader lives and he sure looked conflicted at the end of episode 2.
So yes, its one line... but when one line can potentially become the entire driving force of a show, it becomes important to know the line.
Star Wars often comes down to the littlest details, look at the title of the maul vs jedi theme and listen to Filoni describe how the "Duel of Fate" was over the direction of Anakins life. Had Qui Gon won, Anakin's fate would be different than had his fate be placed on Obi Wan's shoulders (remember Obi Wan didnt rwally believe he was the chosen one when he started training him). It was the title to an audio track playing over a scene bht it was that level of importance to Lucas.- LordDirtNew TravelerJust like most places, I doubt most people care about the Empire or the Jedi, Separatists or Republic. They just want to live their lives and be left alone.
- I actually have one idea why Leia wouldn’t mention Kenobi’s rescue in ANH. Kenobi came to save her here because of how important she was. Leia in ANH isn’t asking Kenobi to save her - he’s asking her to leave her to die and to get the plans that are on R2 to Bail and the Rebellion. It’s not about her anymore. Of course, Kenobi didn’t do that either because she’s important as Anakin’s daughter, but she didn’t know that yet.
It’s a stretch, but it’s the best I can do as to why a single line is missing that would better tie into a TV show 45 years in the future. - Overall, I loved the first 2 episodes, I'm conflicted about Reva because initially, I felt she was extremely impulsive and overly aggressive and I felt like it detracted from her character, however some of her demeanor reminds me of the 9th Sister in Fallen Order and even 5th brother from rebels (though he was much calmer here, but he has 4 years or so to change his character) and I did love them as aggressive inquisitors to balance out the more calm, calculated types like 2nd and 7th sisters respectively. I think the character has good potential, and I'd love to see her backstory on how she became an inquisitor, even if just for a little bit (like with 2nd sister/Trilla, it made you sympathize with the character). I'm not sure that she was one of the first padawans in the opening scene, because she couldn't be older than like 20ish when she's hunting Kenobi, and she seems to be older than that. I think that scene was just to set the mood for the show
- Also keep in mind ahsoka doesnt know in rebels... so vader = anakin isnt common knowledge.
Finding out is usually a big deal for a specific character or plot point in post order 66 stories "ShaggyB;c-2363778" wrote:

I agree completely. Some of my favorite moments from the canon comics involve people dancing around the fact these Vader is Anakin. Padme’s friends/guards actually believe that Vader killed Anakin and Padme all the way through Empire Strikes Back. Like you pointed out, it’s huge for Ahsoka in Rebels when she finds out. Even Thrawn gets into the Empire just by knowing Anakin’s name (and by citing Anakin’s trust in Thrawn’s abilities). There are more than a few moments where Thrawn/Vader interact, and it’s interesting that Thrawn respects Vader’s power but doesn’t know he’s Anakin. Vader’s identity has been a powerful mystery/reveal ever since 1980, so it’s a little weird that Reva just seemed to casually know who Vader was.
That being said, I’m interested in how they explain why she knows. I’m guessing it will be an essential moment in her story too.- perfidius44Rising Newcomer

episode 3 is really strong!so intense!
This is a E2 thread. We should not discuss episode 3 to avoid spoilers.
Or OP/mods might change the title, could be easier. "TargetEadu;c-2363860" wrote:

It’s a powerful reveal, but for a lot of the time it doesn’t really matter. Of course it matters to Luke, Kenobi, Ahsoka, but I don’t see how a character like Thrawn would care so much. He’d want to find out because it’s a puzzle and because he apparently met him as Anakin, but… idk I haven’t read all the new Thrawn books.
But in the older post-order-66 books it was more something people learned as a revelation and tried to knock Vader off balance, and it rarely ended up working that way.
I guess what I’m saying Reva knowing doesn’t functionally change much unless she knew him as Anakin or she has some stronger connection to Vader because of it. Time should tell. That and I’m continuing to question why it’s a secret in the first place.
Disagree.
There are only a few people who know because Vader ruthlessly murders anyone who even sees him without his mask for a long period of time
Yoda knows, Kenobi knows, Palpatine knows... and thats it for a long time.
Thrawn and Tarkin both suspect it and sorta figure it out.
Ahsoka learns and is stunned
Luke learns and is stunned
3rd Sister knowing is not normal and has to have a story to it."Tiig;c-2364435" wrote:

It’s was 50/50 for me. The Leia chase scenes were horrible. Wasn’t impressed with Reva’s acting. Also, all the hype about the GI only to kill him off in the first episode? He got the Snoke treatment.
First of all, he definitely wasn't killed, he appears in Rebels, which take place later in the timeline. Also he was stabbed in the 2nd episode, not the 1st.
My thinking is that Grand Inquisitor event is required to wait until the show has him still alive. No way they’re releasing a toon who dies in Ep 2.
Assuming Rebels is being retconned?
Do we even know if the GI weve met in this show is the same one from Rebels?
