Not a bad episode but the Vader watching Obi-wan get away was dumb. The guy is right there!
Looked to me that he was letting obi-wan get away
So bring him to me quickly turned in to let him escape? Weird - I love the Star Wars community. We always give the writers and directors more credit than they deserve and make up imaginary plot lines to excuse their sloppy work. This episode started fairly strongly, but got worse and worse as it went on. My impression of the “chase” at the end was that I was watching fan fiction. And I see others have made the same comments. It was bad. As was the chase with Leia in EP 2. Whoever is directing these scenes is not good at their job. And the plot blunders are head scratching. I don’t think the writers are as smart as we’re trying to make them be. I think they just don’t know the source material very well and they aren’t good at putting a good story together. Like how does one of the strongest fighting Jedi alive lose his powers over the span of 10 years? He’s trained in them daily since he was a infant. He’s not old for a Jedi. So he just forgot? It’s a dumb plot line. And they’ve hung the entire first three episodes on it. Vader can drag Ben through fire once, but not a second time? It’s not because he wants to let him get away. It’s because the writer/director couldn’t figure out a reasonable way to let him escape. It’s sloppy and unimaginative

thats true, but the episode also ended shortly after say maybe next episode vader will comment on it. i could imagine Reva being angry at vader for letting Ben escape, then Vader explaining why he didn't try. or more likely saying that its none of her concern and to back off or die... Interesting. What I see is a bunch of random people criticizing filmmakers, movie after show after movie, without knowing any of the process they went through to create that movie/show.
Why didn’t Vader pull the Falcon back as Luke escaped the Death Star? Why didn’t he lift Luke and carry him away when he fell at Bespin?
How would you feel if you were isolated on a desert planet for ten years, watching over the son of your dead best friend who betrayed you and forced you to kill him? Would you still have your faith (not that you need to have any now, but think about being a Jedi yourself)?
I can’t defend the action scenes. They are not very good.- Vader does seem to be toying with Kenobi, especially after seeing he’s… er… not much of a threat. But the other factor is Kenobi had help on a planet where he’d just arrived, which the Inquisitors seem to be very interested in. Uncovering a whole ring that hides and guards Jedi is a major catch.
I liked it. - Kenobi's decline is overdone IMO. And presumably he will regain some of his old power soon enough, which makes his apparent weakness all the more puzzling.
Still enjoying it though.
Evans McGregor's acting is much better in this than the prequels.
7/10. - LordDirtNew TravelerThere was no need to make Obi-Wan weak and forget how to do anything in ten years. He is 48 years old not 68. He was a Jedi for 26 years and was one of the best ever.

- DrStewartHSeasoned NewcomerI dont like that Kenobi will presumably get back to full Jedi power in 2-3 days time just in time to confront Vader (Reva will betray Vader and save Ben/Leia) before the season ends. It seems like the trend is to devalue the journey for the destination as it relates to force training. You dont need to work at it whatsoever or train for years, you just need to "unlock" ultimate power. It is in line with the current trend of training given that Rey became like the greatest Jedi ever in around 6 months. Honestly, what would be the point of a Jedi academy ever again in SW? Is that the goal or am I overthinking this?
- One other seemingly minor thing that bugged the crap out of me. The storm troopers on the new planet all had dirty beat up armor. We never saw that in the original trilogy. They always had pristine gleaming armor. In fact, Vader’s personal guard stands out when they show up because they are so pristine. The dirty worn armor was used in Mando to show how far the Empire has fallen. To have it in this series just feels wrong. And now there’s suddenly female storm troopers?? It’s jarring when you make those kinds of changes just for political correctness sake. And can they please, please teach the storm troopers to march in step and in a line…. The OG movies understood that their precision and uniformity are what made them menacing.
