What was the enemy fleet starting lineup? There are at least two:
* HT, XB, IG2000 is brutal with you locked into a mission-buffed HT until Sun Fac reinforces to finish the job
* HB, VD, gunship(?) with Soldier reinforcing is the one I have seen reports of some people beating
