New Event Idea: Ally Escort Missions
The following is an idea I had today while using one of my Ally's weaker characters. This event would have a schedule similar to the Credit Heist and Training Droid events.
When entering the event there would be 5 tiers (Again similar to Credit Heist). When starting a tier one of your random allies from your allies list would be selected for the event (in the event you have no allies, a random player would give you an NPC instead). Once that random ally has been selected one of their characters they have unlocked will be randomly selected for you to escort through all the tiers. This would make the event different and interesting each time you play. For example, you could get lucky and have your ally's character that is selected be a maxed out General Kenobi they happen to have unlocked... or you could get the shaft and get his level 1 Poggle the Lesser.
The mission is simple. You as the player would go up against waves of enemy whose difficulty would be dependent upon the tier you selected. You would have access to your entire roster of characters to complete this event. The main goal is to make it through the event with your random ally's character alive at the end of the tier. If they survive, gear, credits, and training droids will be given as a reward in accordance with the difficulty of the tier you selected. If your ally's NPC you were supposed to protect dies, you get nothing. Revives of your ally's NPC is disabled and if the allied NPC dies, the tier ends immediately in defeat.
This event would encourage players to upgrade all of their characters to best give their allies a chance at getting the best reward possible. Lastly, there is one final component of this event to put a higher emphasis on teamwork (and to save your butt when you get that level 1 Poggle the Lesser to protect). The random player who is selected whose ally you take is assigned to you as well. This means if I as player DocMettey sign in and start the Escort Mission event, and my ally happens to be my ally 50ShadesofRey, when 50ShadesofRey signs in and attempts the event his/her ally will be DocMettey. (Again, your ally each time the event comes around is random, so while one week my ally selected is 50ShadesofRey, next time the event comes around it could be another one of my allies like MakeGeonosisGreatAgain).
Why is this so important? Because if your ally protects your character you gave them successfully, you get rewarded for doing so same as them, and vice versa. So, it would be possible to obtain double rewards if both you and your ally defend each others characters successfully. This happens for two reasons: one, to encourage a full and healthy roster and teamwork, and two is to help maximize your chance at reward. For example, you may fail at defending that terrible level 1 Poggle the Lesser, but your ally happened to get your maxed out Kylo Ren so he just wrecked his tiers. This means you still have a chance of getting a reward, even if you failed your mission.
Thanks for all who read this and let me know your thought on this type of event in the comments section below! Have a great day and may the Force be with you!
