Overwhelmed by the constant release of new characters

Why are you spending credits on them? Just accept the free stuff and move on

It's about being clever and choosing who you decide to invest in having loads of new characters is great and lots of fun but you still need to focus on the ones more easily farmed

My problem is that as soon as I get credits I spend it on whatever is coming up (events, new characters...) instead of staying focused on one character at a time. I love playing this game but sometimes it gets overwhelming with everything I feel i need to accomplish.

Then thats your problem, not the game's

I agree. My favorite teams to run are either empire or sith. Got my rebels pretty strong and hoping to six or seven star my EP. I'm trying to focus on my 4 star nihlius right now.

I ran into the same issue. I now accept the free stuff and wait to see if it'll be a) good, and b) farmable. Remind yourself that you will accomplish more if you focus on the key toons you need to be successful. The more successful you are in other areas, the more currency and gear you'll have to lvl the other cool toons later.

Speed mods are useless, gaining 10% of you max speed is pointless. You'd rather go on other mods that provides something useful (critical damages/chances, potency/tenacity, attack or health) because speed or defense are not worthless.
Speed should only be secondary on Arrow and on mod if you have luck !

Ironically there are more threads about how there isn't enough new content. The new characters will still be around later so focusing on your present goals probably won't cause you to miss anything, no need to worry about it

You should stick with the your dark side factions and focus on it. I'll admit, I'm as guilty as anyone else about being tempted by branching out - and only have been doing so more aggressively now that I have my Sith and Empire characters in place. But before I did that I really only focused on the factions I liked, win or lose. I was only lucky in that Maul was a toon I spent a good deal of time on very early in the game so I timed the meta by sheer luck. However, even if the Sith weren't meta, I would have still stuck with them. It was better for me to have good toons and see what happens than to have a bunch of mediocre toons with no real direction.

Hang in there, it will pay off in the end.
