personally i dont mind having these chars not in the shops all though it would be nice for 1 of the 5 to be an easy farm. when solo chars came out and yhs was in guild store he felt alot better than alot of these other toons that have been released with hard farms.
the time we are given before this jedi revan event is important and i think will speak more towards the future of the game than anything else. if they do kotor legendary event this month its just a pure cashgrab imo. I saw with the chewie event take alot of long time friends i know in a negative direction. if ea/cg is actually looking at the health of the game and their company image which means alot in this market they would consider a couple things. if another game ever is going to be released from ea/cg and the reputation is shot alot of people wont give it a chance because of how they felt this game go. there are good fun things about this game but currently from a lot of players perspectives the bad outweighs the good.
i saw alot of people who were spenders for past legendaries but either getting this chewie for free or not spending and being fine with where they got their chewie. i saw some people quit and they were mostly reliable players that have played this game for 1 1/2 - 3 years. ive seen a couple guilds from this chewie event have spots open from these players who have quit and its not as easy to find other players now because the player base is starting to thin out. so seeing multiple guilds below 50/50 for more than a couple days because they cant find a good replacement is becoming a bit more common.
jedi revan will be a turning point for this game. will it be a positive or a negative one time will tell. alot of whales spent for houndstooth and alot of the marquee characters and while there is still apatite for some to spend i think even the spenders are looking for a break from the slogfest. doing a kotor jedi revan event at the end of november or early december is the way to not repeat this slow decline where with each new piece of content we get a small percentage of people quit and then a percentage of people stop spending and less players join because current players dont have as many positive things to say to friends to get them to try the game out. there is nothing wrong with making content that is challenging but when its a constant slog of unrealistic missions that can only be completed with $$ and half the mission feels like a waste of time it doesnt give me postive vibes about the long term.
like with vets i see alot of farms being for specific events only and besides those specific events if the character isnt a core character it isnt going to get a lot of use and just sits in inventory. ive got a decent amount of 7* g12 chars that i dont need for tb or specific events and they just sit around and i dont have use for them and the only memory i have for some of these chars is well i had to farm them for a specific event. do i get to use them occasionally if hsr is going slow or if tw is a battle yeah. but do they really help and provide joy to alot of the player base. no. but the characters that do provide joy to the player base also need to be balanced where some are a very tough challenge and some are a challenge and some are easy to get.
i will get jedi revan this post isnt about me or where my account is at which i find alot of the posts seem to be. me me me. if we as a community of players posted more about us i think we might be able to give a better voice to the things we as the player base are seeing that we want ea/cg to put some attention into.
i want ea/cg to succeed and they should be able to make a profit in the process. but when the health of the game matters sometimes short term profit has to be evaluated and i think it is important that ea/cg look at this from a health of the game perspective.
I think we all want CG to succeed. They’ve made a great game (very frustrating at times definitely) that provides us Star Wars on a daily basis.
HOWEVER, CG is often controlled by EA evildoers. They sabotage their own game by not truly thinking about the player base long term. EA is all about short term profits, not about keeping a game successful long term. Look at the Battlefront series....it was almost DOA because no one trusts EA. Unfortunately, Disney has given EA that exclusive license which doesn’t bode well for any Star Wars games of the future.
