I do know that if we keep this tread going that someone official will get on here and post. So keep it up folks!
A dev did reply...on Reddit
I don't really have any input regarding this. Most of us are working on the next major content update (it's been super crazy, hence my prolonged absence), so I don't even really know what's going on with this particular promotion.
All I can say is that we try and utilize every opportunity on both platforms to get the game out there and let people experience what we're making. I think it's fair to say that we have no platform bias, we just try and be in the right place when the opportunities present themselves! :D
Don't worry, we've got some cool stuff coming veeeeeeeeeery Soon™.

A hippy thing? Im not sure why I am asking you this... if I cant figure it out, you have no clue either.
To get the free marketing from Googles participation program, all a game would need to do is discount an in-app purchase. Now stay with me. Think about it for a moment (I'll spell it out for you below).
Why, if a simple discount was all that is required, would CG develop a specific event that alienates half of the player base?
Hold on! Secure the urge to rage. Find a calm place. Rethink about it.
Okay... so thinking hasn't changed anything for you. Thinking is like a muscle, you have to work it out before you can flex it. So instead of thinking, go read the Android Event description slowly. Reading it out loud may help. Now try thinking again.
Okay, so the thinking exercise failed... Here's the spell out.
This event will be released for both platforms. Android users will get "3 free" attempts at it. That meets the google requirements for their free marketing campaign for the participation program.
Now slap yourself in the face and call yourself stupid, as someone is going to do it to you some day anyway, and its better if its you instead. - scuba759 years agoRising Traveler

Ok I'm on Android so will get the event.
Anyway - android and iOS are the two major platforms so I'm guessing you all know someone with an android device you could likely borrow. I found this link about merging a Google play and game center ID.

Unfortunately that is only for GREE, INC games will not work with EA/CG game
Ok. I'll just looked into it again and the Facebook connect should import the data meaning iOS users who can borrow an android device should still be able to take part so please ignore the link I posted earlier. That should at least make some iOS users a bit happier.
That does not work either. There is no way for an iOS account currnetly be linked to a Google play account.

From the linked post:
Can I play across different devices?
Yes, if your game is linked (Game Center for iOS, Google Play for Android), you can play across supported devices that use the same OS (Android->Android, iOS->iOS). However, at this time we do not support cross platform play.
What should I know about Facebook connect?
Allows you to send invites to FB friends
Does not allow cross-platform play
Does not protect your game from loss like Game Center/Google Play does - Sounds like something Xbox and PS4 does every time a game is released. When I started this game I got offered a $5 greedo pack, not the dooku one, which would have been substantially better. I won't be complaining, life isn't always fair bros, so take a chill pill, have a snickers and relax. Plus I'm still waiting on this datamined "scoundrel" event that everyone was so sure was happening. Take solace in the fact that your fancy iphones are super encrypted that Apple itself don't know how to unlock them, so noone will be seeing all your ugly pet and baby pictures next time you leave your phone in the John..

@scuba @Starjumper
The game is saved in Game Center on iOS and Google Play on Android, so until there comes a solution to transfer the gamedata, the progress of the game is locked to that platform
only thing Facebook is used for is so you can get your friends to play the game"Pilot;194816" wrote:

So in a week if this doesn't turn out to be true does everyone in this thread get to insult you too?- Jesus, I think everyone is jumping the gun. Wait and see what the official announcement says. An advertisement from Google and some data mined info isn't really enough to get worked up about.
- let's play a game in this thread: spot the iOS users and the Android users.
I just learned about this, and im quite tired of platform specific events and bundles and offers. I'm with Q on this one. And whoever says "wah stop whining it's not out yet" - well we can very well voice our opinion in general on this type of thing and HOPEFULLY they get the message and don't keep doing it? - I haven't had to read all 100 plus messages on this today. I wholeheartedly agree doing platform specific events is not conducive to a game like this, regardless of any cost or reward.
There is not enough connect in game already to start limiting game content, no matter what Google paid for to encourage wanting their cramp device.
