It's been a while in coming, but we got a comprehensive response and we got an apology.

I don't think any of us could have realistically expected more - too much time has passed and I doubt they had either the data or the technical know-how to be able to locate and recover (?!) precrafted gear.

That said, this is sad news for ftp - more gear for cash is only going to widen the gap between ftp and ptp.
