CG's response will be, Shut up and spend money. The coliseum is another revenue drive, nothing more. If you don't spend stupid amounts of money, you don't get worthwhile scores in it. (Sure, they did make a couple things easier and more beneficial, but only because players decreased the amount of money they were spending.)
They didn't consider "fun" or "enjoyment" or "challenge" with the coliseum, only "how much money can we bilk from people by making this event?"
Remember that over 7 years ago we were asking for a sandbox mode so we could test, play against each other for fun, etc. Their response was, "we can't figure out how to monetize that, so no."
