They pretty much had to do this chase given that conquest got delayed and they still want people to spend on executor event
They could have just tossed it in weekly store for crystals and be done with it. Or add it to conquest store even without conquest running, shards are available there all the time. Chase is an elegant and player friendly solution to the "missing" shards from conquest rewards.
I agree it’s friendlier than other user unfriendly methods they could have used but the original problem is that they delayed conquest, otherwise we would have RC 7 starred by the time of the executor event anyway. And given monetary reasons they didn’t want to postpone the start of that event because that would have given us more time to get the relics needed for the pilots needed for that event. - sloweagle0New SpectatorI can confirm 2% drop rate. Did 3x120 plus bonus and regular recharge, spent around 650 energy for exactly 13 shards.

Why ? RC will be out of the next conquest boxes as the new unit (maul) comes in. - PhoenixMoore1982Seasoned NewcomerCombined haul since yesterday: 15 shards from 100 farms on a 10 energy node.
Should be around 20, so I'm behind on schedule. - 340 energy spent and I got the 12 shards I needed.
Much better than 2% for me. - 8 for 1,090 = 0,73%, not lucky or rates are not connected to energy spent
- nottenstSeasoned TravelerGot another 6/46 attempts. So, 13/103 attempts (1030 energy) now. A little above 1%. Still, even at this poor rate I should be able to finish up by the end of the event.
- I managed to get 13 out of 50 attempts. So I’m not sure what the drop rate is.
- SchwartzringRising TravelerDidn't track my #'s on the 5th.
This morning when I woke up, I went 2/90 + 3* 2/120 for a total of 8 / 450, which is a tiny bit short but close to the expected 9 shards that a flat 2% would have given me. - Zumwan2Seasoned Newcomer

Probably an algorithm that reduce drop rate for high gp accounts, which are more likely to unlock executor, so more willing to spend if they don’t get enough RC shards to 7* it. Machiavellian.
Yeah, maybe. I've received ~15 shards so far using only "free" Ship energy, and I have no use for RC. I'm light years away from Beskar Mando.
