Members need to participate in the actual raid in order to get prizes. Not a hard concept. It shouldn't be automatic, then people are rewarded for doing nothing. Put down your soccer trophies and think about it.
LoL, Zero damage period is the definition of participation trophy. Lets just formalize it and be done with it.
But if you weren't there to participate at all, you shouldn't get a participation trophy. If I'm on a soccer team, and we have a tournament, but I just don't show up I don't deserve any participation trophy because I did not participate. 1) I let down the team because I knew what time that tournament started, and 2) I didn't help at all, I didn't even sit on the bench the whole time cheering or anything, I was just not there. Say my soccer team wins and they are given trophies, do I get a trophy? No, I'm not there to receive it. 24hour 0 damage rule is fine, at least those people showed that they play fairly regularly, but like it's just not that hard to log in and register 0 damage... Theres no need to add this imo.
Your analogy only works if you consider that you paid to be on that soccer team, and without your payment no one would get to play. Everyone contributes tickets just by playing the game, and without that no one raids.
You are right about one thing though: doing a zero damage is easy. But why should we be forced to start a raid, disallow anyone from doing any actual damage for 24 hours, and then beat the raid in an hour? It's backwards. If you contribute tickets to the raid, you should get rewards.
It's not that I don't think it'd be helpful, I just don't think it'd be good for ALL guilds. This isn't a good thing for smaller guilds, its really only good for the ones that can beat it in an hour. For smaller guilds that don't finish the raids with as much ease as stronger guilds, this doesn't really encourage anyone to even show up and try. This in turn could lead to less participation in smaller less powerful guilds. That's the main thing I don't like about this, it doesn't really start guilds off in the right place with raids. If they were able to make it so that after you've completed Heroic once or X number of times then yeah, I'd be alright with that, just don't think it's a good policy for the entire spectrum of guilds.
On another note, it doesn't encourage everyone to go on their device and play the way that raids do now. CG wants people to have to log in and play to get stuff, so I feel like it's a little counter productive towards their gameplay system.
