No.
What you're saying is that ALL of the incentives are to keep playing and none of the incentives are to take a break. That actually makes sense from CG's perspective. They don't want you to take a break in the first place.
I'm not, you're claiming I am. I'm saying there are incentives to keep playing. The keeping playing types keep playing in part because they want to keep those incentives. That makes perfect sense from the business model of CG. Clearly, they want this. They also want new players to come into their game, because frankly, the game is a grind, and at one time or another feels more grindy, then less, the more, and people's lives change and many are going to find a reason to quit and stay quit. All games have to bring more players online to replace their loses. I just spoke to someone in the top guild in the game who used to be in my guild wayyyy back. He's ready to quit any day. It's not consistently fun and it's grindy. It is not a money issue for him, or a "I hate their business model", it's a pure "Game isn't fun anymore." This is one of those accounts worth strong six figures over the time it's existed.
From a business model perspective, returning players in nearly any business model are a relied upon demographic to replenish the turnover. This game doesn't even allow for long term returning players to want to play. That's my key point you and others keep skewing and saying I'm saying something else.
Anyhow, agreed, incentives to stay, all good. I don't want the SAME incentives. I want any. Literally, any incentives. Returning players have none or near none. Why do I even want to play my account still and not just buy one? I was blessed by the RNG gods with my mods. I have incredible mods. i also spent a lot back when I was playing, so there's a sunk cost fallacy I'm stuck in for some reason. But it's not enough to keep playing if the game offers zero incentives.
You claim you HAD to farm all those fleets. Whether that's true or not, as you point out, you could have just stayed relevant in the top 50 with the 2nd fleet, even the third fleet in my ancient shard I'd be getting top 50 crystals. HOWEVER, you also gain from them every TW and every GAC. It's not as though you get nothing for them. The long term folks are always going to be rewarded over the lower folks that way and they should be.
Having the ability to have a new fleet shard is not the same as saying I want all your meta fleets without doing the work. You constantly go back to "you're asking for free." I'm asking for a shot. Returning players (sorry, 6 months is nowhere near as bad) don't have the new Trooper chick, or Mon mothma, or tons of other characters that elevate so many of the teams. Do I still have some old troopers, sure. I don't have good troopers. I'm hard gated behind absurd kyrotech requirements. So were you, I get it. There are years before my account f2p or baby dolphin will have any value to make it into a good guild again. Which is fine on some level. I would do that if I had crystal income. Why am I so insistent on more then 250? Relics dude. Farming just your cantina refreshes, 100 per, you're aloting me 2 most days, 3 others If I want to farm a relic character for GL requirements. But then to get the ships, I have to not farm anything for ~4 days, to save up for a refresh so I can get 20 shards of each ship once per month when the event comes, rather than 10, just to get the ship.
I did actually start a new account beside my old one to see what it's like, and I got the hyperdrive bundle to see what that experience is like, and I get #1 in fleet most days on that account. But it's so far away from any value or fun at this point, I am ready to stop it just about any day now. The other account I enjoy playing, my old one, has crap crystals. It's just not fun to barely get anything done at all. One relic up is a week or more, or two depending on which Relic tier we're talking. And that is all the farming I get to do on that account? It's not fun, it's boring.
I accept game is grindy, but there's "so grindy it sucks" and "grindy but you feel like it's worth it grindy". For returning players it's over a massive threshold the other players don't experience "is this grindy or a huge waste of my time?"
End of the day, I'm asking CG to look at returning player experience, because forcing your returning players to have nothing, is actually growing a resale market of old accounts, and that is against EULA. They're forcing returning players into activity they frown upon. They need to look at that.
