Shard shop question

You need to get shards of a toon you already have at 7*. Then open the shard shop and they will be auto converted into shard shop tokens.

But it has an absolutely Terrible exchange rate

Prior to fleet, it was a handy way to 7* Vader. It's still better than your excess shards doing nothing.
