Ship Omegas (and Currency)

I'm long-term player, and the only ship currency with which I have issues in long run is Prestige for upgrading cap ships. Omega mats may be an issue on some stage of roster development, but hey, it's resource-management strategy game. There MUST be bottlenecks. And this one isn't even close to Kyros.

As the game has progressed, more bottlenecks have been added so it just makes sense for older ones like ship/reg omegas to be eased. No one starting the game today wants to reasonably hear it'll take 5 years to catch up.

Plus, Op has a good suggestion of adding things like ship omegas, even other currencies, to shipments. This is a great idea. Let people buy what they need the same way kyros can be bought from multiple shops.

No new bottlenecks have been added for ships though. All the old bottlenecks - including single shard farming, omegas, and prestige are all still there and there's no further advancement available to a ship after those things have been maxed out (aside from pilot gear/relics which is another matter entirely).

I'm not saying it should forever be the grind that it is now, but until there's another way to upgrade ships I don't see them easing any of the old pinch points. Gear bottlenecks only got eased after relics came along - and even then it took them years to do it. Now that many of us are over the worst of the gear hump, signal data is dragging us all down to a crawl. There's no analog to that for ships though.

I disagree - you have several places to get kyro if you manage your resources properly or even spend money. That is the point of my post - there is no place to use resources on these.

I agree with you, but the big difference with ships is that there really is no place to go for the material. I don't think CG wants people to just have to wait - their ideal is people having to wait OR, much to their preference, spend to get it now. Right now I don't even think there is a way to spend. And let's be honest, very few will spend actual money on fleets because to many don't like/care about them (I like them). But people might use something like raid currency thus reducing their ability to buy other things they need and would spend on. My situation is this: I'd like to have a way to get these materials to upgrade my Resistance fleet, but I can't. I haven't even upgraded Zori past G7 because I don't feel I should spend the Ship Omegas for what is my 8th fleet.
It just feels like they should give us something reasonable here since both players and CG would benefit. I say "reasonable" because with the exception of extreme whales, the if rest of us are going to spend real money then we are buying signal data, zetas, or characters.

Zetas and omicrons are my biggest bottleneck and it seems it will be that way for the foreseeable future.

Here's the math for a newer player to catch up on current and upcoming Ship Omegas, also threw in Zetas since they contribute to ship/fleet power:

Ship Omegas = 3.4 years
Zetas = 9.3 years

You're right, ships do level out after a bit for omega materials because we only get about 5 new ships a year.

Zetas, however, are the bigger issue since we get new marquee/conquest units more often needing multiple zeta/omi's.

You're 100% right, zetas and omicrons are currently the biggest bottleneck. Even more so than kryos.

Just so you know, I do care about younger accounts, and when I was hearing from a lot of folks about the zeta economy, I made a post here about it even though I had no reason to be concerned for myself. And just so you know that they do listen, I noticed a brief Zeta-bonus-drops event just a couple months later, and I've also been paying attention to marquee toons and they seem to be requiring fewer zetas (which is just as good as giving us a larger zeta income). Note that in the thread I created to discuss the issue, I suggested requiring fewer zetas on marginal toons that are introduced more as stepping stones to legendaries and other special event toons while I (and many others) also suggested a small uptick in zeta income.

CG appears to have done both.

They haven't made an announcements, there's no fanfare, they aren't begging for thanks for these changes -- presumably because if they say that they've shifted anything then people might take that as a promise and then get mad when they release a toon that requires 3 zetas again. Still, they made modest moves in both directions -- special events to increase zeta income as well as reducing zeta requirements when a toon isn't important enough to justify them.

So CG does listen, even if sometimes they don't change anything and even if when they do not all of us are paying attention to the changes they make (though some of your players do notice, @CG_Tusken_Meathead ).

So keep caring about the game and keep bringing the math like you did when you want to convince CG that something is an issue. You may or may not convince them on ship Omegas, but the kind of detail you showed here will be what convinces them when other issues crop up.

I think there’s a point regarding ship omegas that they are not really any sort of bottleneck or even cause for caution for older accounts which have them in such quantities that they should never be an issue.
This indicates to me CG haven’t set them as an intended choke point for progression.

However for new or even just younger account they are a serious constraint since it seems to take more than 3 years to catch up.
To me it seems reasonable to suggest alternative paths to catching up if this is the case.

I feel otherwise when we talk about zeta, omi and the like which are clearly items intended for sharp prioritisation.
