Not sure what the discussion is about, but ship are fine as is.
I believe majority of people don't like ships because it takes almost 7-8 minutes to complete and majority of the time you use the whole timer and draw (which wastes your time).
You are also dealing with a lot of RNG when playing ships, there are time where TFP took a 1 vs 3 and I lost because of how many times TFP dodged my attacks... (granted the 3 ships I had left were down to 50% Hp, but still...)
