What tier or tiers did you play?
Heroic on farm after doing a couple of missteps. GP is 149M now, can't remember what it was when we started beating it.
What teams you did you attempt the raid with?
The usual including
DEATHCHAO (No rex version of chexmix and a MUCH better name B) )
What part of the raid motivated or demotivated you to continue trying? What about the raid did you enjoy? What did you dislike about the raid?
This is basically the same question and after reading through all the heroic and a handful of other responses here, I have a slightly different perspective.
This raid is, as most have said, not fun. It's
VERY RNG dependent in all phases, especially phase 3. First couple of attempts was all about finding what worked (relatively speaking) best and trying to improve scores enough to finish the raid. Now, I could care less about my score, I'm not motivated to continue to re-roll and try and be acheive top 10 scores with my runs. That is not fun, and not worth my time. I straight up auto teams in part 4 especially if I'm on Treya, because that's just a "throw the kitchen sink at them" phase. There's no strategy to it. You just throw a volume of teams at them until it's over. I see other people experimenting with other teams and more power to them, but I am not motivated to do that like I was for Pit and Haat. Too much RNG at play in this for that to be a fun endeavor. Part 1 is frustrating because of the regenerating Protection. Part 3 is just silly, there's really just 1 team that works. Part 4 is just volume of attacks.
I kind of enjoy part 2 with Sion.... there's something about that pain mechanic that's fun to play around with. I enjoy getting a full g12 piece out of the rewards. That feels valuable and honestly worth more than the Treya shards - those will come, but the gear helps now. I'd like to see more volume on the other gear pieces and naturally, no challenge gear outside of the carbs in the pool.
This raid is again, not fun. It feels like a slog. I know it was designed from the standpoint of "we don't want anyone to solo this raid ever" like Pit is and HAAT is becoming. I don't mind that it's difficult. It should be. T6 feels infinitely more punishing than Heroic which sucks, but is in keeping with how both Pit and Haat are structured. I am not motivated to do better than I already am in this raid. It just is what it is and I'll score what I score.
Now that said, I'll take this raid over TW any day of the week. TW is a painful mode entirely random and the difference in rewards from winning and losing is so negligible, I don't care if we win or lose. The rewards in the hSTR are mostly worth the group effort. But I don't think they would be worth pushing for if we were stuck at t4 or t5 at this point. They just feel like a decent reward for all the time/effort/money I've ALREADY put into the game.
Now... here's something I'd like to address that I didn't see in any other posts (apologies if I missed it):
At this point, we can only run two a week or we are locked out of rewards. I understand the thinking behind that... CG doesn't want the guilds already farming STR to start massively pulling away. BUT! You're punishing us for doing well and that's problematic for me. We're at the point where if we finish a raid on Monday, run another Wednesday, we can't run another one for the rest of the week and we waste tickets. I know, first world problems. My deal: If you're going to give us an unfun RNG dependent slog of a raid... at least let us run it as many times as we can for the rewards. That's really all I'm here for at this point with STR: The gear. So no, it's not great, but I'd like to be able to run it as often as we can build the tickets. I know, I'm odd. :p
What can you do CG?
Well, for the guilds under 100M GP, ease up on the gear crunch and gating in the early part of the game. Let newer players catch up faster.
For guilds over 100M GP, bump up the rewards currency and secondary gear numbers, keep the full piece, and let us run these raids as often as we're able. Reward us for the time/effort/money we've spent. Make it worth our time, because I don't believe you're interested in changing the mechanics of the raid that makes it un-fun.
