Randomness and insufficient resources for leveling up in the Colosseum.

For a couple of bosses in a row, progression at tier 3 has seemed to stall. Characters are stuck at level 28, unable to penetrate bosses, dying from two AOEs in a row. Sometimes you can get a random chance and the bosses will grant you a basic attack, but this is very rare. It's just as rare as blinding bosses. It's a vicious cycle. Level 28 isn't enough to hit bosses above 10-20% HP, and without it, you won't get enough materials for further leveling.

And it all depends on the brutal randomness. Whether you'll catch the boss's lucky move or not. Which will allow you to live longer to deal more damage. 

This is why the Colosseum is disliked and hasn't gained popularity among players. Maybe it's time to address this?

  • At the beginning of this era, I actually thought it was better than the last one, now I've changed my mind.

    I noticed a pattern where you could normally progress an additional tier with each new release. I think I'm still on tier two for a couple of the bosses. The damage output is ridiculous - and I know you shouldn't blindly say "this feels bad" if you don't have the evidence to back it up, but this feels worse than before.

    I noticed this on two accounts. The third tier is really tough. On one account, I was able to get some really lucky randoms. And finally, I managed to level up characters past level 28, and only two of them. But on the other account, I had no such luck, and it's just stuck at level 28 with no progress. While there wasn't enough currency in the previous tiers, now I'm seriously short on parts.

  • I’ve reached t3 on all bosses, but with Lv34 Kleya and Lv 33 Vel, Cinta I’m not really in danger of reaching t4 on any of them at the moment. 

    Someone mentioned in another thread that the lack of a leader in the first 3 era characters has been detrimental to our progress, and I’m inclined to agree. Kleya’s basic hits like a truck early in each battle, but the longer it wears on the less damage she does and the less damage the bosses take, so it feels to me as though the progress in each tier is not linear which adds to a sense of delayed progression.

    Level 34? I’m inclined to believe you haven’t bought any packs (you said something about that in a previous thread), so how good is your RNG? What about stars? I’m stuck at 27 and 26 myself.

    This isn't funny anymore. I'm going through a new cycle. And on today's boss, I got nothing. 6%. The boss just wipes everything out with one masukha. How am I supposed to progress? How can I get characters above 28?

    I did buy the one currency pack with crystals. 

    All 3 of my units are 5*.

    Last coliseum had 2 healers also. Between no leader ability or healer/health steal this time, coliseum went from bad to absolutely horrific yet they still expect us to throw money at it. They need to stuff this game mode somewhere dark and moist.

  • CG's response will be, Shut up and spend money.  The coliseum is another revenue drive, nothing more.  If you don't spend stupid amounts of money, you don't get worthwhile scores in it.  (Sure, they did make a couple things easier and more beneficial, but only because players decreased the amount of money they were spending.)

    They didn't consider "fun" or "enjoyment" or "challenge" with the coliseum, only "how much money can we bilk from people by making this event?"  

    Remember that over 7 years ago we were asking for a sandbox mode so we could test, play against each other for fun, etc.  Their response was, "we can't figure out how to monetize that, so no."
