But read my comment again. I was very worried about the effects my departure from my old guild would have. They have all been positive though, and people have stepped up and filled the void. My old guild is in a better place without me, which is awesome.
I appreciate that you weren't cold or indifferent about leaving your guild, and that the experience has been amicable. I'm skeptical that your previous guild is "in a better place" now however. Perhaps a more even distribution of GP now that you're gone, and less of a dynamic of you pulling rather than a collective push. However, they inevitably had to adjust (and did successfully by your account). Not all guilds will be capable of surviving losing their heavy hitters as well. Go to low enough tiers of STR, and poaching high GP players could have the potential of stopping HAAT capabilities.

It comes down to getting everyone on the same page and working towards the known raid killers. If your guild doesn’t have the same goals as you though, you have to make a hard decision to either sacrifice your own experience and stay or chase your goals and see what you can find.
I agree, it comes down to everyone pulling in the same direction. However, there is a wide difference from having the personal goal of doing HSTR
now and abandoning a guild just because other individual players in the guild aren't there yet, and helping your guild pull toward progression up the individual tiers of STR to eventually get to HSTR.
This is where STR is causing BIG issues. Lower tier guilds SHOULD be able to hold onto their high GP folks AND progress up the tiers in some sort of noticeable fashion. Lower tiers aren't balanced to where they SAY they are balanced, and don't provide the rewards needed to progress the teams you ACTUALLY need to beat the tiers. So, folks like you end up bailing instead of sticking it out, and no one blames you because there isn't any clear way to actually progress up other than bailing (even for the lower GP folks).
The powerful move up and get more powerful. The weak get left to endless suffering.
Very in theme with STR, but not any damn fun.
