Sort function: Rarity

Hey ho!

EA_HighCommand suggests to post the stuff here. The following texts are actually the copy paste of the report/answer:

"The german translation (Seltenheit) does not make any sense in the context how the sort function works. Explanation: The sort function tempo and strength grade the chars which are the strongest or fastest at top.
At the moment Rarity grade the toons in dependency of the number of stars they have. Eg first all with 7 stars, then all with 6 stars, etc...
Rarity means in terms of stars (shards), that the posessed number of stars (shards) is rare compared to the total possible number of stars (shards). So, what we expect by this sort function is, that the toons with the lowest number of stars (shards) are listed first. For that the grading should be inverted.
Another argument: If we have some of the toons at 7 stars, they are not rare for us, because we have them already at maximum. But the sort function rarity grade the toons with the 7 stars first, however, they can not be rare for us. (Something which is rare for me are Kenobi and Traya shards, an they are listed at the bottom, however...)
Plz find another description for this function, like stars and do the correct translation. "

The answer was:
"...
This sort-function/filter is meant to sort the characters by their star-rating, therefore is working as designed.
... "

As the sort-function/filter sorts characters and ships by their actual star-rating it is not a rarity filter.
Suggestion: Change Rarity to Stars

Thx
  • Nope, works fine , a seven star char is rarer then a 1/2/3/4/5/6 star char. As such, the filter is working exactly as intended.

You always have the option the hit the sort button and have it list them from lowest star to highest star. But as for the current setup, it makes perfect sense, The lower the star of a char, the more common it is, hence the less rare, and the higher the star level, the rarer it is, hence the top of the list for rarity is seven stars, then moves down.

Hmm, that is also point of view. But I think it is not the correct interpretation.

When a 7 star is rarer then a 5 star char, why is the order for chars with the same star-rating alphabetically? That would mean, that a 7 star BB8 is rarer than a 7 star JTR. What do I compare here?

Furthermore there is the lack of definition for the basis the rarity is compared to. To what a char is rare? To my own roster, to the overall roster, to the overall number of something I do not have in mind?

    i) If I (or a random guy) compare the seven star char to the overall roster of all players, BB8 should always be more common and therefore JTR rarer -> this is not the case
ii) If we compare the seven star char to our own roster, we can compare the number of chars with seven stars to all chars with other star-rating. However, whales just have the new toons at 3 stars, and these new toons are not listed first with this filter.

Where is the rareness coming from? Of you do not compare some of these numbers with each other, then you compare nothing with each other or apples with cars.
It is just a simple star-filter, not more. The filter has nothing to do with rarity. The filter is just grading star-rating. Otherwise we would have something else than an alphabetically order or Enfys Nest at first place in the rosters of whales.

EDIT: Or the other way around:

Looking into a whales roster with all the fine 7 star chars: why is Aayla Secura the most uncommon character and Zam Wesell the most common for a player? And the rareness of all the chars is as follows: alphabetically.
