Some players prefer a super-fast Poe instead of STH, or they run both. Poe taunts, gives tm down, and also expose. The net effect is roughtly the same as the 30% tm gain from the Han ST taunt.

You can run a fast Poe and a slow Han ST - the opponent tm down lets your AOE toons to throw bombs against exposed opponents (LC, Wiggs, JKA), and then Han ST follows with HIS taunt, you gain another 30% tm, you LC throws his second AOE which hits much harder than his first (check his skill description), and the fight's almost over at that point, and your opponent may have had one or two of their fast toons take a turn, single dps that are irrelevant in this scenario like Rey, QG, or Leia

Current META is to not rely on RNG to win your battle, as the deeper you get into the fight, the more likely it is for rng to work against you. You need to out speed your opponent using a combination of speed mods and turn meter manipulation to set the run order to have your toons go in the sequence that you want, with as few opponent moves as possible. AOE cuts them down, making their taunters like RG and SF irrelevant.

This is why you're seeing less and less RG, QG, and Rey in pvp teams in strong, mature servers.

Yes... He has nowhere near the Health of RG for example.... in order to benefit his TM gain he needs to be taunting but imo he goes down too quickly... now granted I only have him g9... but even in Arena when I face the usual meta on my shard (early Jan) top 50-30 is where I usually stay where everyone seems to have RG and STH in same team I usually burn down STH with relative ease where RG takes some time

You need to get him to gear 11. Anyone in top 20 will have him there and you'll see why he is so good.

I get what OP means. I also wonder the same thing. He seems to be one those characters that shine when fully pimped, but before that there are better options. I know I ain't replacing RG with him anytime soon, but then again I'm around 200th in the Arena. Feels like everyone who posts here is top 10 in their shards :)
Also he isn't useful outside arena as he is cannon fodder. But that might change with Wedge's leader ability. Healing on crits helps him last longer. In raids his taunt is useless for me, as the team I use with him doesn't buff much, so Rancor doesn't use his roar (dispel) until Han taunts. Rancor likes to focus on him, so if Han doesn't taunt it kills him and if he does, he gets dispelled.

Maybe i was saying SThan is not impressive because i was using him for the tenacity mod challenge. But for arena it might be another story

@op yes arena is a completely different story. But STH is useful in the challenges too. If you want to see how good he is, go into an arena battle with Lando lead and STH. STH will taunt first and give his entire team (including Lando) 30% turn meter. That means the entire other team will go before any of yours do. Then, you will have to deal with STH taunt and every time you hit him, he will give his team more TM. Which means Lando will be launching nuclear strikes against your team with devastating damage.

STHan's alone won't kill you. But his secondary skills will.
