STH Taunting through Shock

So I have been noticing through several matches that when I shock STH, he will still throw up his taunt, which should be useless. However, when I hit STH he still grants turn meter to his allies even though the taunt was blocked. Is this WAI or a bug?

It's not a DOT. Palp's UA deals damage to all jedi, all rebels, and all shocked enemies at the end of each turn.

By definition it is a DOT, just hidden and not able to be dispelled or blocked.

Thats actually not true, if someone dispels Han's taunt, when he is hit he no longer grants turn meter to the rest of his team. It seems that it should really only grant turn meter while Han is actually taunting, but Shock being Shock just makes it so you don't have to target him, but he will still do the turn meter gain effect, unlike where if you fully dispel the taunt after it goes up, the turn meter gain doesnt happen. I would vote bug in this case, but thats just me.

Well just fought 2 teams with STH and the TM gain did not trigger on a shock tick or EP turn tick. The TM will tick on the initial attack if he has taunted regardless if it has been cleared or not.
    To sum this up:
    STH can taunt....
The taunt can be cleared by someone like Sun Fac or blocked by EP shock.
STH will still give TM gains to allies for the next 3 turns if hit directly or by AOE's
TM gains will not be granted on EP shock DOT or hidden Rebel DOT.

I have tested many times in the past. Dispelling the taunt, taunt actually has to be up will stop the TM give to allies when STH is damaged.

I have tested this in varying formats.

Shock/Immunity Buff STH let him try to taunt which fails. You then attack him he gives TM. If you hit him with a dispel he still gives TM.

Let STH gain taunt. Dispel taunt TM give when damaged stops immediately, even the QGJ dispel will not give other allies TM since dispel happens before damage.

I will see if I capture video if I see Mr STH in GW again.

I have also tested using B2, the only way to stop TM short of waiting for the 2 turns is to let him taunt and dispell the taunt.

If he is buff blocked he will still grant TM and it cannot be dispelled.

Don't think this will be fixed, and from the wording of his move I guess it is wai.

I have tested in that way also, trying to dispel TM give after taunt blocked.

If it should be dispelled with taunt than if it is happening when taunt is blocked it is a bug.

If it should be happening even if taunt is blocked then it should stay when taunt is dispelled.

It should either be tied to taunt or not but it acts differently when taunt is blocked vs dispelled.

When taunt is dispelled it acts as if it is tied to the taunt
When taunt is blocked it acts as if it is not tied to taunt

So one way or the other it is bugged, which is not WAI.
  • Thanks to fellow poster Waqui who answered this same question so well on a post I made about this same issue. Scroll down to find Waqui's posts. Basically comes down to taunt is a buff which shock prevents, but TM gain when damaged is a positive status effect, which shock does not prevent. QGJ's humbling blow says it removes all positive status effect, so that eliminates the taunt and the TM gain.

Still a problem, because TM give when damaged can only be dispel if he taunts successful.

If taunt is blocked by shock or buff immunity the TM give part cannot be dispelled. I have tried.

    So that explanation doesn't work.

Not a DOT. If Palp dies, it isn't applied anymore. Similar effect, but still not the same.

I agree, it needs to be one way or the other. I logged it as a bug awhile ago and I don't think we will see it change. Glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed it.
