Suggestion: Customization Options for Fleets – Ship Mods or Other New Features?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a suggestion to help improve the current state of fleets in the game, and I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

Right now, one of the biggest issues I see with fleets is that there’s very little variety, especially at the top level. Take the Executor fleet as an example: once you have maxed out the relevant characters and ships, every fleet is essentially identical. This leads to a situation where fleet battles can become predictable, repetitive, and frankly, a bit monotonous.

To address this, I propose introducing Mods for Ships. Just like mods for characters, this would allow players to fine-tune their ships with different stats. The idea here is to introduce an element of customization, so not every Executor fleet (or any other fleet for that matter) is exactly the same. Mods wouldn’t necessarily have to work exactly like they do for characters—perhaps there could be a new system specifically designed for ships.

I believe this would create more dynamic matchups and give players the opportunity to find creative ways to tweak their fleets, affecting things like counters and match outcomes. The Meta would shift more frequently, offering fresh challenges rather than sticking to the same predictable compositions.

That being said, mods are just one possible solution. I’d love to hear other ideas from the community about how we can make fleets more unique and personalized. Whether it’s a new upgrade system, alternative abilities, or something completely different, the goal is to give players more control over their fleets and keep the game interesting.

What do you all think? I believe adding a feature like this could reinvigorate fleet battles and keep things from feeling stale.

Looking forward to your feedback and ideas!

  • A while ago I had suggested having interchangeable characters for ships, where you can swap out pilots and different characters can provide a different special for that ship but of course not every character can pilot just any.  Swap out Beskhar Armor in Razor Crest with OG Mandalorian, or swap Rey Scavenger and Finn in Rey's Millenium Falcon with Veteran Han and Veteran Chewbacca.

And farming mods and farming upgrade mats and farming slicing mats and then upgrading mods and slicing mods and judging which mods need more effort and which it's time to sell and then trying to put together the most cohesive set for each of your 50+ ships .... THAT isn't "pretty complex"?

Geez, just swapping one character for another seems miles less complex to me.

I'm not entirely sure you've thought this through.

  • For the love of God no mods for ships....delete ships altogether and bring something better that isn't just an RNG crap shoot. Or how about just make TW better. The rewards are disgusting for the current state of game. Leave ships as they are and revitalize the rest of the game. Arena is pointless, do something with it. TW is outdated. TB, far too time consuming at 42*. And for the love of God make the raid simmable once you max it.

Just leave it at its present state. Some new game modes can be added (like a clone wars / Death Star raid) or make capital ships have health and protection. It sure is pretty monotonous nowadays considering limited ships and specific capitol ship alignments.

  • I see where you’re coming from but I think this is a terrible idea. There’s enough complexity in the game already without making it worse. Not to mention it’s already a massive time sink, especially for a ‘casual’ game.

If it was up to me I’d get rid of ships altogether.

Haha I understand that many people do not like ships, but a bit customization should not be that much more time effort. And then Ships would probably get more fun too.

No --- DOING the modding wouldn't be that much time and effort. Farming ship mods and ship mod slicing materials and ship mod upgrade materials etc. etc. would be a lot of time and effort. And, of course, the people who get the best luck with the mod rolls will have a permanent advantage.

Right now you can get lucky or unlucky for a single battle at a time. While you might get the same luck on your next battle, there's a 50% chance you won't.

With ship mods if you get bad luck you're hosed for months - maybe a year or two.

Nope, this has been suggested repeatedly, it's been taken seriously and debated repeatedly, and at the end of all that discussion it's a hard no from me and from many, many players.
