Let me guess, Clone Wars is just SO much more "adult" then Rebels? If anyone think this I really don't think they have seen the 2nd or 3rd seasons of Rebels.

They're both kids shows. Period.

Some people have this weird idea that "death" is a marker of quality in art. I personally think the murderverse movies are awful, as do most DC comics fans that I know...but someone is watching these things...I suspect the same people who think Rebels isn't a good story because there isn't enough murder. Whatever.

It is still miles more mature than the prequels. That's not my reason for liking it though, or for disliking the prequels.

It would be dramatic to say the prequels ruined my childhood...but they did certainly ruin Star Wars for me for a very long time. Rebels reminds me of what made Star Wars cool in the first place.

How so exactly?

The background story of how DV became who he is? Revealing Palpatine's genius plot? Having the Jedi Order around and seeing what that was all about?

Sure, there was weird stuff, but the OT had ewoks and the two **** droids, so yeah.

Prequels beat the OT. It's not even a contest.

That is my opinion and nothing more. Just curious what traumatised you.

To be fair, the hate started with the special editions and the unnecessary editing that did nothing to make the story better.

The acting in the prequels was almost as bad as the writing. This is not the fault of the actors, but the fact that they had nothing to act against that wasn't a sheet of green or a tennis ball on a stick.
The humor that was present in the original trilogy was gone, replaced with lines that made no sense, poop and fart jokes, and ...whatever Jar Jar was supposed to be.
The characters lacked depth.

The background of Vader was ruined. I was expecting (from everything I had been led to believe) an amazing Jedi who crusaded around the galaxy being awesome and flying cool ships. Then the lure of the dark side was too much and eventually he gave in to darkness. Slowly his body deteriorated and was replaced by more and more machines as his connection to the dark side grew.

But no. He was a whiny, selfish, brat who was only so powerful because of some force bacteria or whatever that **** was. Then he gets all cut-up by Obi Wan and falls in a lake of fire, then is like pretty much instantly in the Vader outfit. Terrible. Rebels deals more with the fall to the dark side than all three prequels did.

Palpatine's genius plot? Could have been much more.

Seeing some Jedi running around was cool...but with the exception of Qui Gon and Obi Wan...they didn't really have much personality.

The dialogue is awful...did I mention that?

Ewoks are one thing...but when I was a kid and saw them in the theater I loved them. I got older, and there were other things about RotJ that I loved. It is the weakest of the originals, sure, but still way better than the prequels.

And the characters in Rebels don't lack depth???

Ezra: snotty little punk that will blindly trust anyone within a ten mile radius.

Sabine: pink(cause she's a girl and becomes more relatable)female Boba Fett who likes things that go boom and is emo.

Kanaan: terrible human teacher that can't see his apprentice turning to the Darkside(GK and JKA except General Kenobi is ACTUALLY AWESOME)

Female Twi'lek: character is literally so uninteresting I can't remember her name.

Angry Alien: don't know his name but for some reason hes always angry. And half of every episode is about the st.up.id arguments him and Ezra get into.

Clanker: let's try and remake R2D2....

I disagree. I find it to have plenty of warmth, and depth. At its heart its about what makes a family. Everyone there has in their own way lost everything and everyone, and is trying to make the best of it.

Hera: She had her childhood stolen from her by the Clone Wars, and even though her father was alive he was too busy leading the resistance on Ryloth to be there for her. Never having the stability and safety of a family moves her to try and create that for those that she cares about. She is very much a traditional mother figure (scolding the team one minute, and worrying about them the next), but not in a demeaning way. She's an ace pilot, and a wise, capable leader. She cares deeply for those under her command, but she can make the tough calls for the greater good. She's self sacrificing to a fault. Everyone respects her, trusts her, and obeys her. She's the heart of the team, and keeps everything running.

Kanan: Yes he is a terrible teacher. That's exactly why he has depth as a character. Perfection is dull, and unrelatable. The Jedi were his family, but his master was betrayed, and murdered in front of him. He wasn't trained properly as a Jedi, and nothing about Jedi life prepared him for being dumped into the real world outside the safety of the temple, and being hunted as a fugitive at that.

He is a father figure from a broken home. I was raised by a dad who had an abusive, and absentee father. My dad had to figure out how to take care of himself, and as an adult I can see the mistakes he made in raising me were due to his trying to figure out things he had never be taught. That's why I relate strongly to Kanan. No, he isn't qualified for the job of Jedi teacher, but he's trying to step up to the task, because nobody else can. He's learning to be a teacher. He is struggling to do for Ezra what nobody did for him.

All the others are the children of the family. (Zeb maybe a goofy uncle) They have each lost everything in their own way. Zeb is from a species nearly destroyed by genocide. Sabine is a Mandolorian from a house considered traitorous. (I need to see the rest of season three to catch up on more of her story) Ezra is the gifted one who's family was murdered by the Empire. Now he's trying to learn to fight against something ugly, and monsterous without letting resentment turn him into a monster. They have all lost their families, and are making one with each other. They are broken bits coming together to make a whole of their choosing. The further along the series goes the better it gets for me. But that's just an opinion.

P.S. As for comic relief, I'll take a grouchy C1-10P pushing droids out of moving vehicles over JarJar any day.
