In response to that feedback Rise of the Empire was built specifically with 24 hour phases. 1) No, create your routine because it won't happen.
2) End of TB rewards and GET3 will help you relic your characters

I think there will also be some technical difficulties with implementing pre-assigning platoons and that is that an area doesn't always move on to the next one (not a single star reached). But yeah there should be ways to circumvent that, like only allow assigning the next area's platoon when the star is reached
