The number of people defending this crap is mind blowing to me. This is why the game is allowed to be the way that it is.
i’m not really defending cg’s sledgehammer that is relic delta. What im doing is refusing to call lazy design decisions good. Instant defeat mechanics are lazy design. my r3 dn should not be the key unit allowing me to counter reva or gungans or jmmw. Instant defeat mechanics suck. CG created poor teams that were overpowered offensively that they could never figure out how to prevent. i’m bored with traya being an answer.
i also don’t think any counter is dead just the level they are viable has been changed. I don’t know if cg got the numbers right it is way too early to say, but any counter should need to be revisited at least every 2 years to remain viable. it’s been longer than that since i touched traya(r5), oSavage(r5) or Dn (r3) not to mention my r3 sion.
i just disagree that this kills strategy. Smart players who spend the time thinking about interactions between kits are surely going to find weaknesses in relic delta design and build teams that exploit those weaknesses. i believe it will lessen the cookie cutter design of gac/tw.
As for pve, i just don’t see the need to force players to walk up hill in the snow both ways. Thrawn at g8 was done because cg missed the mark on the gear economy. Malak and GAS are now missing the time constraint aspect that increased the dopamine reward from finally beating them.
