The meta is meaningless...
So what is the meta? It's all garbage as far as I'm concerned... Popular characters all have their counters and everyone uses them... I understand that they all have their purpose and having Anaki...

Regardless you can still do well with your IGD led Jedi team.. Or your ewok team.. Hell maybe even the nightsisters or First order team can place top 5 if you devote the resources to them and mod them appropriately... I haven't maxed out every character in the game but I've found the ones I've focused on have served me well...
You can make a truly awful team just as easily and sometimes them's the breaks... but if you put some thought into a team and that's what you want to play then I say go for it...
A lot of characters and teams have unrealized potential... Just because someone might have said that Cad Bane is a garbage character in some thread previously doesn't mean he can't make a scoundrel team amazing when he's leading it (with some thought put into the surrounding cast)
Have fun and experiment is all I propose
