This update may ruin the game for me.
I started playing this game seriously about 14-15 months ago. I have been on a rollercoaster since then. I joined a guild, and became an officer. Things happened, and I led a civil war against that guild. I now lead a guild who has just past the 280M mark. I have whaled on DTMG via conquest passes and gems. I have bought a LSB, and a couple kyro calendars. I was gifted two other LSBs, and I have spent many hours working on things for my guild as a whole. My guild is highly organized, we have an 88% winrate in TW and our TB scores are really good. As my financial situation has changed, I have spent less and less on the game, but I never stopped trying to help the guild. There are many whales in the guild, although no one is required to spend a dime.
I get my enjoyment from two things in this game, my guild and theory crafting. Conquest and GAC are lower on my priority list, I still participate.
I may not hug the Meta, but do I sound like a casual player?
This update infuriates me.
I tried to ignore the leaks about this plan, thinking that CG would try to make it somewhat friendly.
What I was hoping from this update, was a system to reward players for activity, add a more friendly way to get omis if you couldn't get T8, and add a way for players to a easy always available value increase to their daily gameplay via a battle pass.
Instead, I have my main income of Omis stripped away in favor of a daily commitment watching a bar fill, and hope I get enough to buy the omis I need. I get constant reminders that there is a discrepancy between people who pay and people who don't. I progress for challenges, that I can't complete, as another form of asking me to buy the pass. People shouldn't have to check a reddit post or a youtube video to make sure they aren't getting value stolen from them. Also the math works out, assuming you increase your commitment in time to the game.
This feels horrible, plain and simple.
What I hope is changed:
- The abandonment of "Win a battle with an active Episode Pass" Challenge, as this is the most pure example of P2W.
- Someone can save up gems, or get lucky to get Huyang's challenges done. This challenge is pay or lose.
- Add Marquee shards to the Episode Shop.
- This allows players to invest freely in their ability to progress the Battle Pass.
- Character Quests are not challenges, the challenge is to get the character at all. This is also an example of P2W. Make the completion of character quests give Marquee shards, episode points if you have the character maxed, and both if you buy the Episode Pass.
- Shards are given not on a per quest level, but after the completion of so many quests. These quest should also involve actually investing in the toons, as the challenge should be difficult.
- Add Omicrons into the battlepass at a consistent interval. Omi Income should not be based on the the assumption that you are gonna buy omis from the shop.
- Listen, we've all bought something on accident before in the in game shops. If this remains unchanged, you are gonna search omegas up to finish an ability, and buy it from the episode shop instead of the weekly shop. Congrats, you have successfully locked yourself out of an omicron now.
- This suggestion also implies an increase to omi cost in the shop as an extra option.
- The disabling of episode quest tracking after every fight if you can't actually complete the challenge. This is rubbing it in people's faces that they can't or won't get the episode pass. Same with character tracking if no other changes are made.
- In lieu of the previous ideas, rework the speed F2P players progress. I'm at level 1, people who spent money are at level 7. Everyday participation in challenges shouldn't be demanded. F2P players who play religiously should complete the pass with time to spare, it shouldn't be a guessing game as to whether or not committed players should make it at all.
- Members who pay should either pay to get the rewards sooner, or pay to get extra rewards. Both leaves F2P players in the dust. As it stands they pay to get more, pay to get it quicker, and can pay extra to get the first 10 levels immediately.
- Reevaluation as to why GC should be included in the battlepass at all. If you had left GC the same, and added a battlepass with 2 tracks based on daily participation. No one would complain because it could only be seen as value added.
- You could go back to the old system or separate it again, and just make it so a bar fills when that bar fills up you get two omis, feats go over to the next GC. You can prefill the bar allowing for 4 omis everynow and then assuming maxxing of feats.
- If what is gonna differentiate episodes apart from each other is the new toons of that episode, how about the new toon is the main reason for completing the battlepass.
- I'm not buying the episode pass, but I may consider it if it wasn't so expensive. $20? You know how many full games I could buy with that? Not to mention that this only allows me access to more rewards, but doesn't just give me them outright. You still have to farm the episode points. Then this is for every episode meaning per chapter you want $60? The cost of a full triple A game?
Just gonna wait and see how this goes, but I would leave the game now If I wasn't so attached to my guild. I hope CG listens.
