It’s about time that this gets dialed down a notch, or raise those junk rewards on par with the difficulty of that mission. The rng in that is all over the place. You can 3* it one day, then never win...

Actually they technically made it harder :p
It wasn't that they used to ignore taunt, it was that all of your characters started the battle with an invisible taunt that disappeared after being hit once. This would force the AI to spread the initial burst of damage around your team and make it easier to survive.
I wonder if Sabine's AoE is what changed that.... No idea.
