What's the point in running a Dark (Empire) Team?

Is the devs intention that all the players should run a Light (rebel) team? I fell like the game is punishing me at every point for choosing to play a dark team (by the way I am the only one in my gui...

My team consists of EP (5*, lead), Vader (5*), Bob's and TFP (both 7*), and either RG (5* because the RNG gods hate me) or Sid (4*, because I had to switch to rebel farming to be able to get EP). I do alright, but I'm not top in anything. I play this team because I love DS and am belligerent about using Rebels.

Also, I predict that Jedi Luke will be unlocked with a Rebel or Jedi team, maybe even ewoks. I will be enormously surprised if it's with a DS team.
