When is Darth malak coming back?

Oh great. Another one of these threads.

Rest of the month's booked between CLS and JTR. Malak probably won't overlap with those. The event will probably launch on a Friday and run over the weekend again.

The next Friday that isn't booked is August 2nd, so Malak probably isn't coming back before then.

The meta report is based on teams that reach #1. So it is meta if enough people succeed with it on offense.

By one metric, at any rate.

Using the term "meta" as "the singular most dominant team at a point in time," is one of the more useless definitions of the term except in a historical context.

Meta has multiple definitions. You've probably heard me give this talk before. The usual two are...

1) The metagame. The game around the game. Making game decisions based on what other players are doing at the time. The subset of options immediately relevant to the play environment. And that is more than just the one dominant team and the seven or so toons that run under it, as there are at least three teams and a rotation of units who work under them who are relevant parts of the play environment. This definition is useful as it pares down the 176 units in the game to a more manageable number to think about, usually 30-40.

2) Most Effective Tactic Available. Which can be subdivided into global (optimal beginner farm paths, high value goals) and personal. Either way, this definition is useful for decision making, planning, and advising.

3) The singular dominant team. I'm not generally one to call slang definitions "wrong," per se, but this one kinda is, and it isn't really rooted in anything. It's more a misuse of definition 1, but loses a lot of context and utility in that regard. But it is very useful in this game for measuring time, as the various dominant arena teams denote different phases in game life well. However, when someone starts using present tense "meta" defined as "singular dominant team" to dismiss other relevant concerns in the current play space (the metagame), then that's misuse of the term and not useful.
