Be careful what you wish for. Once they make them more attainable they'll come out with another ability material that's even more difficult to obtain unless you spend real money.
Don't get me wrong, I'm with you. I'm in the same boat, trying to keep up in fleet arena and have to spend fleet shipments on ships. Without keeping up in the fleet arena you won't even get enough currency to have the option to get either zetas or shards. It's tough. But better than what could come by giving away so many zetas.
Drop rate on gear is the real issue with this game that needs to be fixed.
