Why deceive?

I don’t quite understand why the first rewards node in Conquest always shows the newest character but always awards the previous character. I already have Cobb so it does me no good.

The reward track shows two rewards. 10 Leia shards and a lootbox. When you claimed the rewards, the UI showed you what the lootbox contained. Go check your Leia shards. There is no deception. There's just a misunderstanding on your part.
