Why is runner-up in GAC 4th place?

Thought I’d revisit this with some data to clear up whether or not the ranking of 2-4 and 5-7 is based on banners earned. TL;DR - it is NOT based on banners earned.

To work this out, I took a screenshot of positions 2-7 from my bracket from the 3rd and final set of the most recent GAC:


I also opened all 6 of their swgoh.gg profiles and went through the results when the GAC history for that bracket was released.

For the players in 2-4:
Tigerman: 2,389 banners in the bracket; 778,715 legacy banners
Peegon: 3,583 banners in the bracket; 895,547 legacy banners
Lavanion: 3,353 banners in the bracket; 705,245 legacy banners

For the players in 5-7:
Dunut: 1,041 banners in the bracket; 757,072 legacy banners
Tomfool: 1,840 banners in the bracket; 1,005,287 legacy banners
BoroM: 2,804 banners in the bracket; 587,795 legacy banners

I also checked their ally codes and that is definitely not the sort criteria either.

My guess is it’s either Player ID (which used to be how ties in raids were settled) or it’s completely random.

Either way, it’s both irrelevant AND something the players can’t influence.

Did you eliminate opponent record within the bracket?

Edit: for example the 2-1 account that lost last round could have opponents with a record of 4-5 all the way up to 7-2.
