Why should i place defense in the new GA?
We don't gain points/banners, in fact we would help our opponent being able to score points. I hope my opponent is kind enough to place more defense than i did. Or did i miss some crucial info?

There is zero benefit to not setting defense. My opponent only set two squads, I got max banners on the unset areas, max banners from one fight, and -1 banners from the second fight. So because my opponent didn’t set almost all defenses I got 1397 out of a possible 1398 banners. Would have been better for him to set out something to try to at least get a hit or two in to take some banners.
Let’s say you and your opponent both have 3 GLs. You put them all in a zone with the 4th slot empty. Your opponent do the same but put a team in the 4th slot. You both can’t clear the GLs zone. You get banners for winning against his non-GL team. Your opponent doesn’t as empty slots banners are only awarded if you clear the zone. Congrats, you win for not putting a team on D.
