This is an honest question. PvP in “turned based” games seems inherently flawed to me.. as it heavily depends on who goes first. And yes, I know there is pve in this game.. but it’s pretty weak. It seems like there’s a lot of room for expansion/improvement here. Where’s the creativity? Also: please enlighten me- was the majority of the community really asking for all this grand arena crap? Look at the issues it’s been causing..

Currently I would say approx. half of the game's content relies on pve, though many like me consider that a necessary evil to reach pvp ends. And yeah there's major interest for pvp. No, pvp doesn't always rely on who goes first, who is fastest on most cases more like, but not the first toon to go if there are balancing factors on the other end. The shiz GAC causes is hardly because there's a GAC, I've yet to see topics that people ask for cancellation of GAC as a mode all together. Yours may be one, dunno.

I'm not trying to say everyone wants live PvP (I don't), and so maybe the use of the phrase "the community" is a bit clumsy, but there is a pretty consistent flow of requests for live PvP with minimal opposition.

Five full boards--eight if you count hard separate from normal--events every day, three different territory battle maps, every raid. PvP is just arena, fleet arena, territory wars (of which there's one, it's now always the same, and is boring af), and grand arena.Who cares if the majority of the community was asking for something? This community is bad. The majority of requests by the majority of the community can be summed up as "I want free stuff and I want to win every time I do something." Grand Arena could be absolutely perfect, and you would still get a thousand complaints from entitled sore losers who are convinced they should have gone 3-0 every time, but "the game" cost them the championship.

If you really think about it, this game is 100% PvE.

PvP is player vs player and not an AI replacing a player. When you play real PvP in games like Warcraft, you get to see real gamer talent at work and not +1 speed on a mod. This is fake PvP.

So yeah this game isn’t PvP focused at all. The day we actually play real players you’ll see the difference.

Are you talking about now? Or throughout the entire recorded history of this game? If you're talking about now, I'm having a hard time believing you.

Also, this is the internet, and these are gamers. Lots of them will tell you all kinds of things that aren't true.

Such as: "I haven't spent a dime on this", "this is my first time playing", "I solo'd the raid on my first try I didn't even put any effort in" .. and "I have a girlfriend". <== haha, but some people really do lie about everything.

One reason developers resort to PvP mechanisms in games is that it is a lot less programming, testing and work to create. Companies like Bethesda who craft full-fledged story-bases games are a rarity nowadays due to the enormous costs to make that sort of content versus the quick and easy route of just slapping together some PvP mode.

That said when this game first started PvP was the minority of activities and I really preferred it that way. PvP in this game is inherently flawed in so many ways. Matchmaking for GAC or TW doesn't factor secondary speed mods at all and it seems that G13 and zetas really don't weigh much if GP is all that is factored in.

For PvP games, which I still don't like for the most part, I prefer ones where player tactics, strategy and skill outweigh random elements like who has lucked into the fastest secondary speed mods. When mods were introduced, in my opinion, the potential for interesting PvP died.

I agree 100 percent. It probably is more difficult, and so they take the easy way out. And since people are willing to pay over $2400 a month to ensure they "stay competative", then CG will never find a reason to change the way they do things.

You do realise, that CG is a bussiness, right? They aim to create revenue. With no incentive to develop new characters, there would be much less revenue.

You do realize that there are other f2p games that don’t behave this way right? And that many popular games generate lots of revenue without resorting to such greedy tactics right? And that even this game wasn’t always in such a sad state as it’s currently in right?

Geo TB has quite a few nodes on which you can use any DS characters. It absolutely makes use of characters we already have. It also makes additional characters useful that previously were not, which is something many people have repeatedly asked for.

From some of your follow up posts it sounds like you want PVE content that makes use of characters YOU already have? The new TB makes use of:

Geonosians - of which many folks had Soldier, Spy, and Sun Fac at G12+ for fleet
GG - one of the most popular G13 characters
B1/Droideka - characters people have been farming and gearing to go with GG anyway
Asajj - a staple in HSTR
Dooku - a character that has been up and down and been in the meta before
B2 - a character many folks either geared or started to gear up for the Padme event

Which really just leaves:

Brood Alpha - the new shiney for the PVE content
Nute Gunray - a "flavor of the month" thanks to his rework
IG-100 - an optional droid separatist
Poggle the Lesser - still a lesser character

That looks pretty F2P friendly to me and seems to make use of characters that a lot of people already have or were already working on. If you don't have any of these it does not mean that the new PVE content does not make use of characters that many people already have.
