Why the scoundrel event is a waste of time, for me

Many a times EA comes up with events to excite us and add flavour to the game. Some are great, the omega mat event for example, I enjoyed having daka omega'd at level 75ish... However most times, I think events are a distraction(u can read more about max/min in my other posts)

This article is not for the P2W, Before you read on, pls do not comment that it is a waste of ur time, common sense, flame, etc etc... Stop here and move on.

Back to point, I have only one scoundrel, that is chewie, as with almost everyone in the game. This event is a waste of time for me as I will have to raise and build up a scoundrel squad from scratch, it may cost me circa, 5 mil and countless shards to make my squad ready to gain that 1mil a week.... The ROI is not worth it. The event is just a distraction, as with most events, to spread myself thin, as I only have limited resources to spread over my roster.

A mil credit costs about 1000 crystals, which is 2 days work from ranking 1st in arena daily, so I will not be distracted, and considering that my roster is so lean, I will not benefit from the 1mil reward anyway, galactic war + credit challenges takes me to approximately 850k, so as tempting as the 1mil sounds, I will not be fooled.

Always focus on arena, the rest is secondary.

  • I should point out also that I had been farming scoundrels ever since Lando was released to cantina. And an added benefit to doing this event is that the scoundrels were a ton of fun to use during the early easier GW nodes.

Although since yesterday GW sucks now so I am not so sure how fun or useful they are there anymore. If they acknowledge and then fix what was broken in GW then scoundrels will be awesome and fun again
  • I find it illogical that in a game that has about 80 characters, people find it offensive, waste of of time or feel indignant that the game tries to employ most of that roster in one way or another.

I understand what you are saying that to you it does not seem worth investing into characters for the reward but I don't think you understand ROI.

ROI is a mathematical equation ROE=(Return-Cost)/Cost. So if it cost you 5 Mil to get 1 Mil your ROE would be a -80% and that is really bad. But ROI does not take into account duration of a return. After 5 weeks your return would be 5 Mil thus making ROI= 0% every week after the 5th week the ROI would continue to grow. after 10 weeks your return would be 10 Mil and your ROI would then be 100%.

So, the question then comes to what is the opportunity cost to not have a scoundrel team and miss out on potential credits (opportunity cost is basically what what you would be missing out choosing plan A over plan B). I think the opportunity cost of ignoring the event is probably why people may disagree with you. From the earliest time you could possibly start earning credits from his event to the # of weeks you actually complete the event is going to equal so many credits. That compared to how far you drop in arena and miss out on those rewards is what you need to weigh on what plan is more economical. Arena, GW, and this event are not mutually exclusive so you can have a high arena rank, you can get GW credits and get these awards.

I can see if you always are #1 in arena that maintaining that ranking is probably a top priority and farming for this event may be lower on the list but 1. It is very hard to always be #1 in arena and 2. Maintaining rank in arena is not as difficult farming wise because you generally only need to max out 5 characters. Being able to get the increased amount of credits allows players to adjust with the changes in the game. I was sitting in the top 10 in arena then RG was buffed and I dropped for a period of time because I did not have the credits needed to get RG maxed quick enough. This is why I think this event is so great more credits allows for a faster pace leveling up of characters that helps allow anyone to grow they way they need to.

A major component of this game is built around managing resources. As you get higher levels you must start choosing do I invest to be better in Raids, Arena, etc. I see the opportunity of gaining 1 Mil a week helping anyone do any of these.

    Well said!!

    Josh, this is from a post you started about the scoundrel event disappearing;

Scoundrel event appeared, and when my daily activity reset, it vanished.... I've spent so much leveling, gearing and gathering scoundrels to participate.... And why is this happening? Anyone else? @EA_Jesse @BentWookiee

I thought you only had Chewie?

Sounds like you got "distracted" by this event from the almighty arena after all, or were you lying in that post ("article") as well?

'So much' can be loosely defined. A lot to me, maybe a little to some. Now I have chewie, cadbane, greedo.... I do not need arena shards, or GW shards anymore. Arena is important to me because I do not want to spend money to buy crystals anymore considering how the developers are constantly fixing bugs, exploits etc etc

The spirit of behind these articles, braggy as they may sound, is to help others minimise errors and maximise given resources, so that they may not have to spend on crystals....

    I hope it has helped....

    Sincerely,
