Hi All.I'm a bit behind on the reading regarding thawn. I've seen people saying he may struggle against zmaul/SA....but I was just about to change my arena team to the annoyingness of rex/chaze/DN. I realise we don't have him yet and we don't know anything for sure but is the consensus that he will or won't be a problem to the rex lead team above? (p.s haven't got GK yet :-( so R2 will be my 5th eventually)

He'll have to be fast enough to fracture Baze. Problem is, zMaul and zQGJ teams will be faster. It's hard to say until he's actually in the arena:

I wish we had footage of him as leader vs a zVader team. By reading the leader ability alone, he is more a counter to DEBUFF teams than to current meta.

Yep any buff or TM gain can cause issue. I think I want him to be 271 speed right behind DT. It might mean he won't always fracture Baze but he will hit gk and then I can just buff immunity Baze. My squad won't really gain any buffs so Baze will be a turtle anyway.

Locking baze is so clutch. I want thrawn fastest.

Fracture Baze, shock GK.

Fracture is 4 hits. Chances are, one of those will crit and cause GK to taunt. You can shock him, but he'll already be taunting.

I already mentioned R2, but I was corrected: R2 has a base speed of 157. Thrawn under Tarkin has a base speed of 180.

Ya this does require the Use of tarkin and I know that using ackbar, r2 will have +2 speed over tarkin/thrawn combo. Though I feel ackbar will weaken the team worse than tarkin does. And cuz it's just 2 speed, mods make the difference. This could change if ackbar gets a zeta for his lead.

So I really do feel that thrawn will be moving quicker, at least for the foreseeable future.

Thrawn and Tarkin work well together. If shore trooper is present, tarkin will be able to use intimidation tactics, gain 75% TM (15% for each debuffed enemy), gain 15% TM from shoretrooper and 15% TM from Thrawn. He would then go directly into a 50% TMR ultimate firepower. Neither Thrawn nor Tarkin even need to be lead for this to work although higher speeds definitely help get it moving.
