- Interesting idea, problem would come if they get through his protection, he has 0% health steal, kylo has at least 5% (mines not too well geared yet) so kylo can replenish his health while his dealing the insane damage - with dooku you'd have to avoid reaching that point
- In addition to the lack of health steal, Dooku lacks Kylo Ren's resistance to damage-over-time effects, so he'll be taking a lot more damage from those DOTs that come from Grievous' special. And he won't be gaining damage and speed from them like Kylo Ren does.
Also, Grievous' special attack can be countered, but his basic CANNOT be countered, nor can it be evaded. So it's completely undermining two of Dooku's best skills: his leader skill evasion bonus, and his 100% counter-attack. Grievous, of course, is also immune to stun and shock, but I'm also not sure you'd ever want to use Dooku's special -- you actually really really need those other three droids to be attacking him and triggering his counter. Also, Dooku's leader skill actually works against you in this case -- you probably DON'T WANT HIM TO EVADE because then he won't counter and regain any protection from those weaker hits from the side droids.
Also, Dooku doesn't have that cooldown-reset-on-damage unique that Kylo Ren does, so you won't be able to spam that Escape button. Note that I think this will be nerfed very quickly so that cooldown reduction doesn't apply to the Escape button.
So I think there's a lot of reasons why this would not work nearly as well with Dooku, and possibly not be viable at all. But hey, I figure if someone has 6 Defense mods with a bunch of protection secondaries, it might be worth a shot. You're basically trying to improve your chances with a math equation:
1.5 * 10% * Dooku's Total Protection > Damage Taken from Magnaguard or B2 on a hit.
So you want to maximize that protection pool, and minimize the damage from their hits. The 1.5 modifier is the 50% chance that Dooku will do a double attack on his counter.
Of course, you also have his 25% chance to gain 45% turn meter on any counter-attack, and he gets crit immunity, so that's nice. I'm not sure if you'd really want his stun-on-basic to proc -- again, if you win in this equation, you actually want it to happen as often as possible. But you almost certainly want his ability block on basic to proc, to keep the Magnaguards from Exposing him and the B2 from dispelling his crit immunity or offense up.
Ideally, you'd get that equation working enough in your favor that it would make up for the onslaught from Grievous, because you only get to regain protection on him when he does his special. In the meanwhile, you're suffering through his DOTs and basic (which applies Defense Down, don't forget). So to make that work, you're going to need to focus all of your own attacks on Grievous, obviously to do raid damage, but because you don't actually want to kill off the side droids often or stun them -- again, they're the key to actually surviving this strategy.
And I just checked SWGOH.GG and his max protection is about 14k. With 5-dot protection primaries on triangle, circle, cross, and arrow, you can basically double that to 28k. Throw in a few % or + on secondaries and maybe you can get it up to 30k or so. That means on each counter and each basic attack, you're regaining 3k or 6k protection, with an average of 4.5k.
I don't know off-hand how much damage the monsters and DOTs do, or how much defense reduces the incoming damage. You can only get +11.75% on the diamond, and +15% defense if you manage to get a full set of 6 defense mods.
I'm skeptical that the math would work out on this. Maybe you could get a few Escape/Restarts, but I have a feeling that the droids will overpower Dooku. - Thanks for the replies.
I will zeta kylo instead of dooku and try the AAT
