All Unique zeta abilities only function while their toon is alive, same with Special ability Zetas (Although an Effect they have granted May last persist until they expire through their normal conditions, think things like Damage Over Time, Expose, Etc.)
Only Lead Zetas (in the Lead slot, or the ally slot -from the borrowed hero in some PVE content) abilities persist for the remainder of the battle once their toon is defeated
They have always worked this way, it is not exclusive to Barris.
Hope that helps!
You're forgetting about Old Ben's unique; there are others.
Padmés stop, DRs stop, Trayas stop.
What do you mean old Ben's unique? His unique states when he dies his allies get buffs for 2 turns. After the buffs are gone they dont reapply
That's different.
Its always been like this bro.
Apparently, Barriss' unique did use to endure but was "altered" (pray they don't alter it any further) in 2017. It's really her only feature. For this reason, like KRU's 2-turn stun, I lobby that she should be the only character with an enduring unique.

I think the word you're looking for, and the one CG used, is "fixed".
It was never meant to endure. Just as others have pointed out, uniques either end at death or are triggered by death. None of them, intentionally, provide the same benefit before and after death.
If allies can benefit off Old Ben's unique when he dies, believe me they should be able to benefit off Barriss'. She's a worse toon and if anybody deserves to be the exception (she does), it's her. Her unique is pretty much all she has.
Learn the difference:
Old Ben
- While alive: Old Ben gains TM when allied Rebels and Jedi take damage
- Upon Death: gain offence and speed up for 2 turns; recover health and protection and gain TM one time
As soon as he dies his unique applies some effect then
stops doing anything for the rest of the battle. Two turns after his death none of the effects from his unique are around any more.
His unique does not persist after his death.
Nobody deserves to be the exception.
