Wow. Having Rex as lead is hardly "thinking outside of the box" now is it?
As for Rex being OP I never commented to that effect or intended to insinuate it. I was wondering why - given that he had been around for a good while - he still remains the outstanding squad leader given others have come and gone in far less time.
Question though. Why should a Rex-like leader be so effective in terms of knitting together so many disparate characters and factions? Again what is so particularly original about a dog's dinner of a squad that works purely because of a Rex leadership? Or is that your idea of thinking outside of the box?
