Running Empire in top end Arena on a competitive Shard?

So, I’ve been running Commander Luke Lead Rebels for a very long time now and get 1st easily every day (unless I’m busy), and generally maintain position within the range of 7th – 15th overnight. However, I’m extremely bored with it and hate the lack of variety in my Arena; I’ve ran:

Luke L, Zolo, GK, Old Ben, R2
Luke L, Fulcrum, Leia, R2, Old Ben
Luke L, GK, Thrawn, R2, Zolo
Luke L, Chaze, R2, Zolo

My favourite “in-universe” Faction is by far the Empire, and my favourite Star Wars character is Grand Moff Tarkin. So, I would like to run an Empire squad in arena, and for a change run a squad I enjoy as opposed to running a squad out of necessity. I’m wanting some advice as to whether this is advisable (and possible at top end arena still), if it will hinder me in getting 1st everyday as I do so easily now, and will I fall hugely in Arena; since Empire are (admittedly/sadly) very underwhelming and outclassed by CLS/Zolo Rebels...

I’m thinking something like:

Thrawn L, Shore, Stormtrooper, DT, Tarkin/DN or Tarkin L, Shore, Thrawn, DT, Tarkin/DN

Or throw GK in somewhere.

And for those of you who run Empire or face Empire, are they a decent squad. Success rates vs a well modded Luke L meta squad (Luke, Thrawn, Zolo, Gk, R2) etc...

    Yes. Check out the Galactic Empire chat thread, lots of good information there. But currently the best empire squad is Thrawn (L), Storm, Shore, DT, and either Krennic or Tarkin.

    Double zeta definitely recommended on Thrawn, and you will either need to have a zeta on Tarkin Unique, or DT Unique (if you run krennic).

    Regarding modding, contrary to a lot of tanks in other squads, both Shore and storm want to be modded for speed (along with the rest of the squad). You need speed on both of them to pump out the taunts and heals. They stay pretty tanky even with full 4x protection mods due to their uniques and the protection regen from Thrawn.

    Okay, thats what I’m working on now. But Tarkin over Krennic (He takes a long time to get to 7 stars sadly)

    Mostly for DS TB but I may run them in arena too if I’m feeling brave!

    I use Empire with 5* Krennic,5* Shore and 6 * DeathTroper. I can place in Arena in top 20. I have zeta only on DT. This team even can autobattle against Cls teams.

    I had/have a CLS squad but I've also switched to a new Empire squad and have taken first.

    And I'm on a competitive launch shard.

    Thrawn (zz)
    Krennic
    Deathtrooper (z)
    Shoretrooper
    Stormtrooper

    All gear 12.

    This works fine - been running this since thrawn came out. I get kicked around on defense but you can win all of your offensive fights. If you don't mind doing your 5 battles a day you should be good.

    Dropping Storm in favor of nihilus is something I usually do when attacking a zBariss team because im not a sadist lol. But I take him back out as soon as I can/for the night.

    You must be in a very lucky shard because that team would be destroyed in mine. I have G12 7* Krennic, DT, Shore, and running that team under Thrawn L will only get me to about #200.


    He's obviously not in an early shard. That said I'm in a month 1 shard and get top 20 under Thrawn lead(only DS lead usually in too 50).

    Only 200? You cant beat more teams to get better rank? My arena shard is from July2016. Maybe it is lucky shard. But if You have this team why you are not in top 5? It can beat every comp in the game.

    Imperial Probe Droid might make for a good 5th character on an empire team. I know I'm using him for my droid team :)
