- Good rule of thumb for CG. Also no more Rebels and more Empire would be appreciated no matter who the Imperial character is. And reworks have been a good thing for the toons that have had them.

While Thrawn being in the cartoon 'Rebels' makes him an official part of the SW universe (i.e. he's canon), it does not make him a fan favorite. I think you seriously overestimate the popularity of the cartoons.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised at all that CG releases him into the game. After all, they did give us other 'fan favorites' like Bistan and Pao.
Thanks for putting words in my mouth about Bistan and Pao. I never mentioned them nor did I ever allude to them as such.
To me, Thrawn is not a huge deal. I am not big on the Expanded Universe content and focus mainly on canon content. However it is clear to me from time on the forums and on Reddit that Thrawn is a fan favorite as he gets a lot more mention as "missing" from the game than most. I know he seems to be much more popular than Jango Fett who is huge in terms of canon, and while I do not see his name as much as Jedi Luke (obviously) and Bossk, he and Embo are two that have caught my attention as having more following than I ever expected. - Probably thrawn with celebration and the thrawn book coming out next week

Ding Ding Ding. You are the winner. The book is the key. These guys are smart about self-promotion. They release a book around May 4th every year, they support the DVD release of Rogue One with a free Bodhi Rook (which, despite being free, fans complain about) and they make logical releases like Thrawn at the same time as his book. Makes perfect sense IMO. - Bistan and Pao were probably produced when those characters had a larger role in the film / more scenes. These characters both appeared in a lot of the promotional material for the film, so I suspect they were more prominent and victims of the cutting room floor.
Since characters have to be modeled and animated well in advance of their release, it was probably that the characters became less important leading up to the release of the film. Pao's model may have been produced months in advance of the film's release, and only just now seeing the light of day. "Nozone2016;999325" wrote:
Actually I would agree that Thrawn is a big name, the EU has been mentioned but you have to remember that during the period between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace the only new SW content was the EU stuff, of which the Thrawn novels were lauded. So, anyone around the age of late twenties upwards will probably be familiar with Thrawn.
Myself, I have to admit I've read very few of the EU/Legends novels, and I haven't read the Thrawn ones but SW friends and acquaintances of mine during the 90s were seriously into Thrawn. I don't know why I never got round to reading them (possibly because although a lot of the EU content was great, the writing was often terrible) but I'd probably give them a shot if I ever have the time.
Idk what your thoughts are on Rebels, but i think the consensus is that season 3 does his character justice. I haven't read any of the books but i really like him in the show.- The Heir to the Empire novels were wildly popular long before Rebels. During the height of the EU's popularity those 3 books were considered the best. With the reintroduction of Thrawn into canon and a new canon novel by Timothy Zahn (the author of the EU Thrawn trilogy), I suspect we will get Thrawn.
Also, you underestimate the popularity of the cartoons among mainstream Star Wars fans. - People stop looking about ls ds blah blah
Phoenix squad released because it was the time of the finale of season 3 of Rebels show
Pao and bodhi because it was rogue one blunray time
My money is on thrawn being released as his new book is coming out
Stop your whining jeez - If they release Thrawn there could probably come some other toons like Inquisitors or Agent Kallus along with him?
And maybe when they release them they make Krennic/DT farmable?
