His capitol ship might gain 1 speed from the added ability point and im guessing itll add 75 to 150 damage output. If he has any abilities that you havent omegaed just omega one of those and youd get the same result per stats added to his capitol ship. Level 8 ability point will add the same regardless if its omega or a zeta
The bolded portion is simply untrue.
Putting a Zeta ability on produces more crew rating than an omega does. Your ship stats are based on crew rating, You get so many point of every ship stat the crew can boost based on the rating which is affected by everything on the character.
No one knows what the breakpoints are (as far as I know) on the ships so how much it will actually affect his stats is unknown. What is known is that it will make an increase, and a larger one than any other ability upgrade would.
False. A zeta upgrade provides just as much crew rating as an omega upgrade because both are level 8 ability upgrades. Crew rating does NOT equal crew power, which is what you see. The sooner people stop looking at Crew Power the sooner this misinformation will stop spreading and cropping up. The only misinformation pertaining to ships that is more common is what part of mods (ONLY dot and level) affects crew rating.
While zeta upgrades now provide more galactic power than omega upgrades, ship crew rating was untouched. Both apply the same change in crew rating (going from 383 for the ability up to 523, an increase of 140 crew rating).
As for breakpoints, they're easily identifiable but not worth the time to produce en masse because of the wide variety of options. All you have to do is find your current crew rating (using the charts found here), multiply by the crew contribution modifier for that particular ship's stat in question, then do the same after adding in the additional crew rating from new gear, stars, ability upgrades, mod dot/level (and NOTHING else), and character level. Almost all stats are rounded down, so floor everything and you're good to go.

No. Under the old system of calculations, a zeta was still worth a higher crew rating than an omega.
It was not purely aesthetic, but the difference either of them made was relatively minor, and only if you made it to certain breakpoints would it actually make a noticeable difference in stats.
However, everything is/was based on that crew rating, so increasing it in any fashion is the only way to improve anything on your ships.
Just wanted to add that this is also false. Under the original system, which is still being used, zeta upgrades provided the exact same bonus to crew rating as omega upgrades. The change in galactic power formula did not change the ship crew rating formula, so it still works that way. But it has never worked the way you describe.
Then why exactly do my 3 strongest ships just happen all have Zeta'd crew members?

Because ship power is just as inaccurate of a stat as crew power. Stats are based on your crew rating, which you cannot see and is not reflected in crew power (upon which that ranking is based). Ship power formula might have been updated, but ship crew rating formula, which is all that matters, hasn't.
I just be don't understand how a 7* ship with a maxed toon (TFP and Geo Soldier) have lower power than a 3* ship. Regardless of the fact that DT and Shore are both 7* G11.
The opposite is true with characters.
My Thrawn was around 20th in power at 6* G11 but when I put a zeta in his lead he jumped all the way up to tank top 5.
One Zeta (one that is faction specific no less) shouldn't increase a toons overall power by so much.
Sigh, power levels just seem to be even more confusing and meaningless than they were before.
