App crashes on Checking For Updates screen

I can't log into the app. Got a Client Must Be Updated message around 11:30am pst that bumped me out of the game. Relaunched and the game crashes during Checking For Updates. Have deleted and reinstalled the app twice, same result. Have also tried restarting the phone. On iPhone 11 Pro.

The game does not crash completely...when I swipe up to see what apps are running, Galaxy of Heroes is there in the background. When I select it, it starts up again and crashes at the same Checking For Updates screen.

Hey there, @DWall45. Thanks again for the update.

You mention that it loads up on iPad just fine, correct? Is that the same Game Center account as you're running on the iPhone?

If so, let's give this a try on the iPhone:

    1. Uninstall the game
    2. Sign out of Game Center completely
    3. Reinstall the app
    4. Load the app
    5. Verify you can load into the game without Game Center active
    6. Sign into Game Center and reload the game

Thanks for bearing with me here.

@EA_Arrenai I am using the same Game Center account on both the iPhone and iPad.

I deleted the app, signed out of Game Center, reinstalled the app, did not log back into Game Center...same issue.

Odd that it won't load even with being currently signed out, @DWall45.

What is your available storage space looking like on the device?

Thanks, @DWall45. This is truly an odd case.

Is this device set up with parental controls, by chance? If so, can you check the Content & Privacy Restrictions and verify it the app is not restricted?

From here, we do get into the overarching options. Let's try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will set your iPhone settings back to the original default values without doing a factory reset.

    1. Tap Settings from your Home screen.
    2. Tap General.
    3. Scroll down and tap on Reset.
    4. Choose Reset all settings from the given options.
    5. Enter your passcode when asked to proceed.
    6. Finally, tap the option to confirm all settings reset.

Please give that a try and let me know how it goes for you.

Hey there, @DWall45. Thanks so much for your patience.

I don't come to this step lightly, but let's see if it helps. Let's try a factory reset.

First, please make sure that all your data, apps, etc. are backed up on iCloud. This is really important to ensure you don't lose any of your current apps or data. While not required, access to a PC or Mac with iTunes can also facilitate in the next steps.

Please try the steps in this article to restore your device to factory settings: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252

From there, once all additional apps or settings are off the device, please install the game. This will help pinpoint if there is a program or setting that is blocking the game from launching.

Once tested, you can restore back to the backup and all data, apps and more should return to their last saved locations.

Please let me know how that goes for you.

@EA_Arrenai Just letting you know that I have not performed the factory reset yet, waiting for a good time when I don't need my phone for work related stuff.
