Darth Malak took unreduced health percent damage

Product: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes
Platform:Android Phone
What type of device are you experiencing the issue with? Samsung Galaxy Note 10
OS Version Android 11
Ally Code: (Find it here: http://bit.ly/AllyCode ) 849-181-445
What type of issue do you have? Gameplay
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Summarize your bug In my most recent GAC match, my relic 5 Darth Malak was killed by a gear 12 Captain Rex Aerial Advantage. It really seems like that the health percent damage haven't been reduced in this case. I provided all the information about the match in the compose section.

My Malak was between 50% and 25% health, which means he had +70% defense and crit avoidance.
He didn't have any ferocity, because I was soloing.
The enemy team consisted of Shaak Ti(Lead), Fives and Rex. Fives was still alive when my Malak died, so Rex didn't get the bonuses from Tactical Awareness.
If I seen correctly, the damage was 70-something thousand, non crit.
If I understand it right, Malak should take negligible damage from health percent damage, which makes Aerial Advantage normally so high damage.
So if the game worked correctly, that means that a gear 12 Rex's Aerial Advantage without the health percent damage did 70k non-crit damage to a decently modded relic 5 Malak with +70% defense. Which doesn't seem right at all.

My opponent's ally code: 999-159-884

The match took place at January 20, 2020, some time around 11pm GMT.
Please investigate the issue. I lost my GAC match because of this. I know you can't do anything about that, but it is frustrating and I would like you to fix this issue so it doesn't happen next time to me or anyone else. Thank you in advance.

  • I've been trying to test this in GW to see if I noticed anything fishy. I've been able to test my Rex against opponent Kylos, and both seem to take the reduced damage.

I also just found a team with Rex and two other clones, so I threw in my Malak. After several turns by each of the three clones, Rex did Aerial advantage and the bonus damage was only 14k. So it doesn't seem like there's an obvious problem there.

If you encounter this again, you can try and take a video or otherwise track the turns and see what is going on, but I wonder if it was just a case of the clones taking a lot of turns.

How many turns had the clones taken? The Aerial Advantage damage stacks, and can get pretty high. Raid bosses also take reduced damage from it, but you can still stack the damage pretty high in p1 Sith raid.

Also, the bonus damage is unmitigable, so defense doesn't come into play.

  • Ok, now I understand that every aerial advantage's bonus damage is based on every turn that the clones took from the start of the encounter, not from the previous use. That might explain it.

Also the fact that health percent damage doesn't care about either characters gear makes it even more believeable.

Still, there were just 2 clones present and it wasn't such a long battle. I wonder how many turns they need to get that high damage. Especially when I see malak use drain life(which is 100% damage) on another malak and it barely scratches him, it does maybe 1 or at most 2% actual damage. So I guess the two clones must have took at least 50 turns combined to do 30% actual damage. And sadly I don't know whether they took that many or not. It is certainly possible.

I won't try this again though, I don't want to loose a GAC match again, whether this damage is intentional or not. Thanks for the help though! At the very least I learned something new.

@djpajtaajto I believe the reduction is 98%. So a malak drain life will do 2% of malak’s health instead of 100%.

So to extrapolate - Aerial Advantage does 25% health damage per clone trooper turn. 4 clone trooper turns =100%.

Aerial advantage has a cool down rate of 4. Let’s assume that fives takes 3turns to rex’s 4, so the first aerial advantage should have bonus damage target of 175% of the target health, which would be 3.5% of malak’s health. If Rex used his second aerial advantage on malak, I would expect it to be about 7% of malak’s health, and the 3rd AA would do 10.5%. This is in addition to the “physical damage” (which can be mitigated by armor and depends on Rex and malak’s stats).
  • If the clone troopers take turns as many as possible, Rex's sp2 can stack an incredible high damage that even Malak with %damage reduction could be killed by the ability.
