Game stuck on checking for updates.

After installing new update the game won't load. Just says checking for updates continuously. Any fix? I've tried restarting multiple times. Tried multiple wifi or data connections. Nothing works. On...

Guys, to solve this, unfortunately, you have to uninstall the game and reinstall it again. It's sad to have to do this because it's really annoying that most problems can only be solved this way.

Helpful but not helpful. I just bought this game (new) and spent 2 hours watching it do 9 updates. Then I get the black screen of "checking for updates." So I followed your advice, and I'm back exactly where I was 4 hours ago. Black screen "checking for updates."
Do you have anything else that might help?

  Ok, I found one thing that does work although not optimal. Once I disconnected the PS3 from the wifi so that it could no longer check for updates, then the game became playable.
