Grand Arena Skill Rating Issue

I would like to know why I lost 67 still rating in between seasons.  I went from a 3433 to a 3366 randomly.  I know there's supposed to be a squish in between seasons, but why does that exist?  There's literally no point, it's punishing players for no reason at all, the only adjustments to player rating should be from wins and losses, not from random happenstance.
